BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - A total of 132 Bloomsburg University student-athletes have been recognized as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athletes for the 2017-18 academic year. The Huskies join a PSAC-record 3,063 student-athletes from the league's 18 institutions being named to the list.
The 3,063 scholar-athlete total marks 42% of the student-athlete population across the entire conference. Both of these numbers break the previous records of 2,934 and 41%, respectively, set one year ago. The league has now registered at least a 30% rate for 10 consecutive years.
In order to earn PSAC Scholar-Athlete recognition, each student-athlete must have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.25 throughout the year.
The cross country/track and field teams led all of Bloomsburg's women's teams with 19 selections. Women's lacrosse and field hockey had 14 members each while women's soccer had 13 scholar-athletes. Softball also finished in double figures with 10. On the men's side, football and cross country/track and field led the way with 11 scholar-athletes each. Wrestling was next, among men's sports, with six.
