STORYLINE
Bloomsburg will play its first home game of the 2018 season as it entertains Kutztown at Steph Pettit Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies are tied for fifth in the latest Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll and are one of only three unbeaten teams remaining in the PSAC. The Golden Bears come in with a record of 3-1 on the season and feature the league's top scorer in Kyra Wozniak.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
Bloomsburg leads the all-time series against Kutztown, 55-7-3. Last season, the Huskies earned a 2-1 victory over the Golden Bears getting a goal with 1:35 left in regulation to break the 1-1 tie. Kutztown outshot Bloomsburg, 15-11, but the Huskies got five saves from Hannah Barnard (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) en route to the one-goal win.
 
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg, tied for fifth in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II Coaches Poll, enters the contest with a perfect 3-0 record which includes back-to-back shutout wins over Bellarmine (5-0) on September 3 and Seton Hill (4-0) last Saturday. The Huskies opened the season with a 3-2 shootout victory over Lindenwood on September 1. In the 4-0 win over the Griffins on Saturday, junior Tesa Hoffman (Freeburg, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) recorded her first collegiate hat trick and also added an assist. She was named the PSAC Player of the Week for her efforts - the first weekly award of her career. Freshman Kristen Robinson (Annville, Pa./Palmyra Area) notched her first collegiate goal in the win. Hoffman entered the season with two goals and one assist for five points in her first 38 collegiate games but leads the team in scoring this season with four goals and three assists for 11 points through only three games in 2018. She leads the PSAC in points per game (3.67), is tied for first in assists (3), and is tied for second in goals (4). Senior Erica Krebs (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) is also off to a hot start with three goals and two assists for eight points. Krebs also ranks in the top ten in the league in goals, assists, and points per game (2.67). Junior Ali McKay (Dover, Del./Polytech), sophomore Alyssa Broadt (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg), and freshmen Robinson and Madilyn McKay (Dover, Del./Polytech) have also scored goals this season. Sophomore Hannah Barnard (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) has played every minute in goal and is 3-0 with a 0.61 goals against average and an .875 save percentage. She leads the conference in goals against average and in shutouts with two.
 
SCOUTING KUTZTOWN
Kutztown comes into Wednesday's contest with a 3-1 overall record, earning victories at Mercy, at St. Thomas Aquinas, and, most recently, at home against Adelphi last Wednesday. The Golden Bears' only loss of the year came on September 7, a 2-1 overtime home loss to Franklin Pierce. Kutztown has outscored its opponents, 11-3, and has outshot the opposition, 87-15. Kyra Wozniak leads Kutztown in most offensive categories as she has scored six goals for 12 points through the first four games. She leads the PSAC in goals scored and total points and is tied for first in the league with two game-winning goals. Wozniak has scored six of the team's 11 goals thus far. Mackenzie Fuhrman is second on the team with two goals and two assists for six points while Rachel Dusman has a goal and a team-high three assists for five points. In goal, Katie Dotterweich has started all four games and is 3-1 with a 0.69 goals against average and a .500 save percentage. Kerri Hanshaw and Grace Dow have also seen limited action.
 
UP NEXT
Bloomsburg will head back on the road as it travels to Millersville University to battle the Marauders on Tuesday, September 25. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The Huskies will be back at Steph Pettit Stadium on Saturday, September 29 against Slippery Rock at 5:00 p.m.
