STORYLINE
Bloomsburg will be looking for its second victory in as many games on the young season as the tenth-ranked Huskies battle Bellarmine on Monday. The Huskies needed six shootout rounds on Saturday to knock off Lindenwood while the Knights went to overtime before upsetting #7 Saint Anselm on Friday.
Â
ALL-TIME SERIES
Bloomsburg is a perfect 6-0 lifetime against Bellarmine in the all-time series. In the last meeting, the Huskies defeated the Knights, 2-0, in Louisville.
Ali McKay (Dover, Del./Polytech) scored both Bloomsburg goals while current volunteer assistant coach
Lindsay Cassel stopped seven shots for the shutout victory.
Â
PRESEASON POLL
Bloomsburg was chosen to finish sixth according to the PSAC preseason coaches poll released last month. Defending national champion Shippensburg received seven of the 11 first-place votes and was picked to finish atop the league standings in 2018. Millersville received two first-place nods and was picked second while both East Stroudsburg and West Chester each collected one first-place vote and were picked third and fourth, respectively. Kutztown rounded out the top five while Slippery Rock, IUP, Mansfield, Mercyhurst, and Seton Hill occupied spots seven through eleven in the poll.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies began the 2018 season with a 3-2 shootout victory over Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon as senior
Tali Wehner (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) provided the heroics with the game-winner in the sixth round of the shootout. Each team scored three times in the opening set of five shootouts, forcing sudden victory to determine a winner. After sophomore goalkeeper
Hannah Barnard (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) kept Lindenwood's Pauline Terwindt from scoring to open the sixth round, Wehner beat Lions' goalkeeper Emma Deines to end the contest.
The Huskies wasted little time getting on the board as junior
Tesa Hoffman (Freeburg, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) scored off of a penalty corner just 4:42 into the contest. Senior
Erica Krebs (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) was credited with the assist. The Lions, however, responded just under seven minutes later as Bridget Hoogendijk beat Barnard to tie the game at 1-1. Bloomsburg recaptured the lead seven-and-a-half minutes into the second half when Krebs beat Lindenwood starter, Skylar Starbeck, from seven yards out after a centering pass from junior
Ali McKay (Dover, Del./Polytech). But, Hoogendijk notched her second goal of the game just over five minutes later to knot the game at 2-2 which ultimately led to overtime and Wehner's heroics in the shootout round. Bloomsburg outshot Lindenwood, 27-10 and also held a significant edge in penalty corners, 18-9. Barnard earned her first victory of the season and was credited with five saves in the win. During the shootout, Wehner, Krebs, and freshman
Foto Tsioles (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) each scored to keep pace with the Lions during the opening set of five.

SCOUTING BELLARMINE
The Knights opened the year with a stunning 2-1 overtime victory over seventh-ranked Saint Anselm on Friday. The Hawks scored the first goal of the game last in the first half but Bellarmine responded with a goal from Jillian Fazio three minutes into the second half to tie the game at 1-1. Just over three minutes into the overtime period, the Knights were awarded a penalty corner and they capitalized as Merit Harris scored off an assist from Lindsay Reynolds. Saint Anselm outshot Bellarmine, 12-5, and held a significant 14-4 advantage in penalty corners. Heather Gregory tallied five saves in the victory.
