MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's volleyball team remained winless in conference play on Saturday afternoon as the Huskies dropped a four-set match at Millersville University. The Marauders won the first two sets 25-19 and 25-15 before the Huskies staved off elimination with a 25-18 victory in the third set. Millersville, however, clinched the match with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set. The Huskies dropped to 4-11 overall and 0-6 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division while the Marauders improved to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC Southeast Division.

Redshirt senior Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll Catholic) paced the Huskies with 12 kills and 12 digs - her fifth double-double of the season. Freshman Grace Giza (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) chipped in with a career-high eight kills and added three assisted blocks. Freshman Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) had seven kills and 12 digs while fellow freshmen Mia Nicholes (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Molly Prior (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added six kills apiece. Prior tied Giza with three assisted blocks. Freshman Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) led the Huskies with 25 assists while sophomore Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) was all over the floor en route to a match-high 36 digs.

Bloomsburg started quickly as it jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the first set to force a Millersville timeout. Giza, Gomish, and Prior had kills during the run while Cianciulli had her first of two aces on the afternoon. The Marauders' timeout paid off for the hosts as they went on an 8-2 run to take an 11-9 advantage. Gomish had two kills to account for the only points during Millersville's spurt. The Marauders built the lead to three on two different occasions but the Huskies would not go away as Bloomsburg trimmed the lead to 19-18 after a kill from Gomish. But Millersville scored the next three points to extend the lead to 22-18 and pulled away in the end for a 25-19 victory in the opening set.

Millersville nearly led wire-to-wire in the second set with Bloomsburg's only lead at 7-6 after a Marauders' hitting error. Millersville rattled off the next six points to take a 12-7 lead and then went on for a 25-15 victory.

In the third set, the Huskies were able to stave off elimination thanks to a 25-18 victory to cut the lead to two sets to one. It was Millersville that jumped out to a 7-2 lead before the Huskies went on a 6-0 run to take an 8-7 advantage. Prior and Gomish had kills while freshman Emma Van Arsdale (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) had one of her two service aces on the day during the run. Millersville fought back and eventually took a 13-12 lead before the Huskies scored six of the next eight points to take an 18-15 advantage. Bloomsburg continued to pour it on as Van Arsdale recorded her second ace followed by a kill from Prior and a Millersville hitting error as the Huskies extended the lead to 21-15. Gomish and freshman Autumn Altland (East Berlin, Pa./Delone Catholic) added kills to push the lead to 23-16 and Bloomsburg put the set away on a kill from Nicholes.

After Mooney started the fourth set with a kill, Millersville scored the next four points and never trailed the rest of the way as the Marauders earned the match-clincher with a 25-19 victory.

Lindsey Blevins led the Marauders with 16 kills and 11 digs. Jayci Suseland posted 14 kills and seven digs while Haley Butler was also in double figures with 11 kills. Katie Laughman had a match-high 42 assists while Kat Forry paced Millersville with 20 digs.
