BLOOMSBURG, Pa. –
Taylor Montana (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) tallied a career-high 28 points and 11 rebounds to power the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 77-58 win over Lock Haven Wednesday night. With the victory, the Huskies improved to 8-5 (4-2 PSAC East), while the loss dropped Lock Haven to 7-5 (3-3 PSAC East).

Montana was a sterling 9-of-13 from the floor for the Huskies, and 10-of-12 from the charity stripe. The junior exploded for 17 points in the third quarter to help the Huskies open up a 25-point lead that they would not relinquish.

Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) chipped in 15 points and six boards, while senior
Alyssa Mack (Walnutport, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) posted 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists in the win. It was the ninth time Mack has reached double figures on the season.

Mack would help the Huskies control the action from the opening frame, scoring seven points in the quarter. As a team, Bloomsburg ripped off 20 consecutive points over a 5:50 span to take a 24-9 lead into the second quarter. Bloomsburg would not let up in the second stanza, building its lead to as large as 27 before the half.

Lock Haven battled back in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Huskies 17-11 in the period, but the Bloomsburg lead proved too much to overcome for the Bald Eagles.

The Huskies dominated the battle down low, outscoring Lock Haven 46-22 in the paint. Bloomsburg also won the rebounding battle, 43-37.

Taylor Leidy paced the Bald Eagles with 11 points, while Bink Redman added 10 points and six rebounds. As a team, Lock Haven shot just 19-of-56 from the floor (33.9%) and 3-of-14 (21.4%) from deep. Rileigh Devine, Lock Haven's leading scorer entering the contest, was held to just eight points on 2-of-5 shooting from the field.

Bloomsburg continues its homestand this Saturday when the Huskies host PSAC East foe Kutztown at Nelson Field House. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
