Men's Soccer Falls to Millersville, 3-1, On Saturday

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Bloomsburg men's soccer team couldn't complete the comeback as the Huskies fell 3-1 to Millersville in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East division play, Saturday evening. Bloomsburg fell to 4-7 on the year and 3-3 in conference action while the Marauders improved to 6-3-2 and 4-0-2 in the PSAC East.

Trailing 2-0 going into the second half, the Huskies mounted an offensive front, though their first chance in the the half was waived off due to being offside. Bryce Evans (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) was able to get a clean shot off in the 52nd minute but it went high. Bloomsburg was awarded a corner kick just two minutes later but could not convert on the opportunity. After a Millersville foul set up a free kick for the Huskies, Zach LoBasso (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) used a pass from Olly Whitham (Clitheroe, Lancashire, England/Settle College) to get Bloomsburg on the board in the 57th minute and cut the Marauder lead in half, 2-1.

Just over a minute later, however, Millersville pushed its lead back to two goals, 3-1, as Nathan Erb found the back of the net at the 57:46 mark.

Mike Bazadona put a final shot on target for the Huskies with 4:22 to play, but was turned away by the Marauder keeper, Darian McCauley.

Millersville scored a pair of early goals in the first half to build a 2-0 lead before the halfway mark of the period. Jake Gosselin scored at 18:07 before Anthony Calamia added a tally at the 20:02 mark.

Millersville out-shot the Huskies, 17-8 with a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. Each team finished with three corner kicks for the game.

Nathan Slotnick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) finished the day with three saves in the loss for Bloomsburg as he is now 1-2 on the year while McCauley made two saves in the win for the Millersville.

The Huskies return home on Wednesday as they host Shippensburg is an PSAC East showdown at 4:30 p.m. at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Raiders come into the contest with a 1-5-2 overall record and a 1-4 slate in the PSAC East after drawing with Slippery Rock, 2-2, on Saturday.
