GLENVILLE, W. Va. – The Bloomsburg University Huskies surrendered the lead late in the first half as the Fayetteville State University Broncos turned a three-point deficit into a three-point lead at halftime and went on to win 83-72 in the final game of the Glenville State Tip-Off Classic, Sunday afternoon. The Huskies fell to 0-2 on the young season while Fayetteville State improved to 2-0.

Trailing by two with 1:22 to play in the opening half, Jalen Seegars drew a foul and went to the free throw line for Fayetteville State. Seegars hit both free throws to cut the lead down to one, 40-39. The Broncos took their first lead of the game as Jalen Spicer finished his layup after a steal with 31 seconds to play before the break. Raymon Pratt hit a jumper with just six seconds to play to give Fayetteville State led 43-40 at halftime.

The Broncos led by as many as eight points in the early part of the second half but the Huskies chipped away and used an 8-0 run, highlighted by three points from freshman
Justin Anderson (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) and a dunk from redshirt junior
Max Wagner (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) to tie the game at 48-48 with 15:27 to play in the second. Spicer halted the Huskies run with a layup to put the Broncos ahead by two, 50-48, and Fayetteville State did not let the Huskies back in. The Broncos led by as many as 15 points with 1:12 to play in regulation. Bloomsburg hit the last shot of the game, a dunk by Wagner as time expired, but the Broncos walked away with their second win of the Tip-Off Classic, 83-72.

Bloomsburg came out hot in the first half as the Huskies used a 15-2 run over the first 4:13 to open the game. The 13-point lead was the biggest of the game for Bloomsburg. Nine of Wagner's 23 points for the game came in that opening stretch. The Broncos cut the lead back down to eight, but Wagner pushed it back to 10 with a layup at the 14:39 mark.

The Broncos started to heat up and trimmed the lead to five, 17-12, with 13:47 to play but Bloomsburg used a 6-2 run to push its advantage back to nine, 23-14, with 12:52 to play. The nine-point lead turned out to be the highest lead for the Huskies for the rest of the game.

Fayetteville State got the lead down to three, 25-22, but
Devon Ferrero (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) hit a jumper after grabbing the offensive board at 10:07 to extend the Huskies lead back to five, 27-22. After a pair of free throws cut the lead back to three,
Peyton Mortellite (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) hit a three at 9:20 to give Bloomsburg a 30-24 advantage.

Mortellite hit another jumper at the 8:57 mark to keep the lead at six, 32-26, but the Broncos got to within one with a three from Isaiah Vinson and a jumper from Seegars with 5:05 to play. Anderson pushed the lead back to five with an old-fashioned three-point play after hitting a free throw following a successful contested layup with 4:15 to go in the first. The Broncos closed out the half with an 8-2 run to take the lead at halftime and kick off their comeback bid.

Wagner led the Huskies with 22 points and went 8-for-12 from the field while pulling down six rebounds. Anderson finished the day with 12 points and four assists.
William Melson (Allentown, Pa./Dieruff) handed out a team-best five assists for the game.

As a team, the Huskies shot 42.4% from the field (28-for-66) and went 11-for-19 from the free throw line. The Broncos won the rebounding battle 46-39, and the two teams were tied with 12 turnovers each. The Huskies scored 11 points off turnovers while Fayetteville State posted 16 points off turnovers.

The Broncos had three players in double figures as Denzell Hosch led all players with 23 points. Pratt chipped in 18 points and 14 rebounds while Seegars added 13 points.

The Huskies will return to action next Saturday as they travel to Rutherford, N.J. to take on Felician University on November 16 for a 3:00 p.m. contest. The Golden Falcons are currently 1-1 on the year and face Mercy next Wednesday.
