MILLERSVILLE, PA -
Travis Elmore (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) deposited a game-high 23 points and shot a sterling 10-of-14 from the field, but the Bloomsburg University Men's Basketball team suffered an 84-57 setback at Millersville Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Huskies to 6-17 overall, and 2-15 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East. The Marauders improve to 15-7 overall, and 10-7 in the conference with the win.
Elmore's strong outing Saturday was part of an exceptional string of recent performances from the freshman forward. Elmore added a team-high seven rebounds Saturday, while fellow freshman
Sekou Fofana (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic) finished with 15 points and three boards.Â
Bloomsburg shot just 36.9% from the field as a team, and allowed the Marauders to pour in 12 three-pointers as a team. Millersville out-rebounded the Huskies 44-35, and forced 16 Bloomsburg turnovers.
James Sullivan paced the Marauders with 20 points and a team-high six made three's, while Jaden Faulkner added 18 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Jamal Washington notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Justin Nwosu was the fourth Marauder in double figures with 10 points.
Elmore would keep the Huskies within striking distance in the first half, tallying 15 points in the opening frame on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor.
Peyton Mortellite (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) added four points for Bloomsburg, but the Huskies were 0-for-7 from three-point territory in the half. Leading by eight with 2:48 to play in the period, the Marauders would finish the half on an 8-4 run to take a 41-29 lead into the locker room.
The Huskies would stay withing shouting distance of the lead early in the second stanza, but Millersville would take over midway through the half, opening up a lead as large as 27 in the game's closing minutes. Millersville was an impressive 8-of-17 from behind the arc in the second half.
Bloomsburg will be back on the road for its last regular season game away from home this season on Wednesday, February 20, when it travels to East Stroudsburg University. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
