BLOOMSBURG HUSKIES vs. WEST LIBERTY HILLTOPPERS

THE STORY
• The Bloomsburg University women's and men's tennis teams will wrap up the 2019 regular season on Saturday, April 27, against West Liberty University at the Burt Reese Tennis Center. The women's team is riding a six-match win streak while the men's squad has won back-to-back contests enter Saturday's action. Both teams will be competing in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournament next week at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
• Junior
Taylor Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) was named the PSAC East Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after powering the Huskies to their sixth consecutive postseason berth with an impressive 7-0 victory over Kutztown. Capoferri waltzed to a 6-0, 6-1 win at #1 singles, and teamed with
Giovanna Bonito (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Reino) to win 6-0 at #2 doubles. Sophomore
Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/Furst Johann Ludwig Schule) was named the PSAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week after helping the Huskies clinch their fourth consecutive PSAC tournament appearance Saturday. Luetzig did not drop a single game against Kutztown, earning a 6-0, 6-0 singles victory and a 6-0 win at #3 doubles with partner
Nagid Walle (Willemstad, Curacao/Saint Andrews (Fla.)).

Cassidy Calimer (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) leads the Huskies with a 14-5 overall record in singles action this season. Senior
Cassie Wentz (Windber, Pa./Winber Area) is right behind with a 13-3 overall mark while Capoferri sports a 12-8 record on the year. Bonito and junior
Vitoria Nery (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Educandário Santa Maria Goretti) each have 11 victories while sophomore
Isabella Sarquis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Metodo) reached double digits with 10 after her victory on Thursday against Wilkes University. In doubles, Calimer and Nery have teamed up for a 12-4 record while Bonito and Capoferri are 12-5 on the season. Senior
Siena Cerra (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) and Sarquis have gone 7-3 in doubles action.
• Walle has taken over the team lead in singles wins as he sports a 10-4 overall record. Sophomore
Lucas Pedrotti (Caxias do Sul, Brazil/Sao Jose) enters with an 8-5 mark on the year while sophomore
Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area) and freshman
Oliver Wiesemann (Jena, Germany/Colegio Alemán de Málaga, Spain) have seven victories apiece. On the doubles side, Pedrotti and sophomore
Bernardo Abreu (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Rogedo) are 12-3 to lead the Huskies. Luetzig and Wiesemann have teamed for a 7-5 overall record.
SCOUTING WEST LIBERTY
• West Liberty, members of the Mountain East, is 14-7 overall and 6-1 in league play on the women's side. The Hilltoppers were scheduled to play at West Virginia State on Friday before making the trip to Bloomsburg on Saturday. West Liberty, most recently, dropped a 6-1 decision against Salem on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers have played against seven PSAC schools this season and have gone 3-4 on the year.
• The men's team, which was scheduled to play at Kutztown on Friday, enters the weekend with a 9-9 overall record. The Hilltoppers have dropped three straight, however, and are coming off of a 7-0 loss against Charleston on April 20. West Liberty, 4-3 in the Mountain East, is 1-1 against teams from the PSAC this season.
LOOKING AHEAD
• The Bloomsburg women will host Millersville in the PSAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday, April 30, beginning at 4:00 p.m. while the men will play in the PSAC Semifinals on Friday, May 3, against Mercyhurst University. Bloomsburg will, once again, serve as the host of the 2019 PSAC Tournament at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
