BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision at Bloomfield College on Wednesday night as the Huskies fell to 1-2 overall on the young season. The Bears picked up their first victory of 2019 and improved to an identical 1-2 mark on the year.
Redshirt freshman
Nathan Slotnick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) made his first collegiate start in goal for the Huskies and was credited with seven saves.
Bloomfield scored two goals in each half as Jeremy Mpouma put the hosts on the board in the 25th minute with his first goal of the season. Quincy Baal followed just under five minutes later to give the Bears a 2-0 advantage at halftime. Warwick Sterling and Joseph Vazquez scored 12 minutes apart in the second half for the final margin.
The game was halted with just under five minutes left in regulation as the power went out at Foley Field.
The Bears held a 19-9 advantage in shots over the Huskies despite Bloomsburg edging Bloomfield, 9-8, in corner kick opportunities. Only one of the Huskies' nine shots was on goal as Bloomfield's Robert Kornel and Jomar Vizcaino combined to make one save on the evening. Junior
Thomas King (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) was credited with the Huskies' shot on target.
Bloomsburg will look to snap its modest two-game losing skid when it heads to Shippensburg on Wednesday, September 18, in the first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division contest of the season. Kickoff against the Raiders is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
