MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team late comeback fell just short as Mansfield held on for an 81-75 win, Friday evening in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action. The Huskies dropped to 5-7 on the year and 2-4 in PSAC action while the Mounties improved to 4-7 for the season and 3-3 in the PSAC.

Ky Mauras (Reading, Pa./Reading) had a career-day for the Huskies with 23 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and five steals while freshman
Justin Anderson (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) posted 22 points and a pair of blocks.
Peyton Mortellite (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) added 10 points for Bloomsburg to round out the double-digit scorers for the Huskies.
As a team, Bloomsburg shot 40.0% from the field for the game and was 10-for-28 (35.7%) from beyond the arc. The Huskies were 55.6% (5-for-9) from the free throw line.

With 7:19 to play in regulation, Mauras forced a turnover with his fourth steal of the game and finished at the other end of the court with a layup to cut the Mountie lead down to two, 63-61, with 7:14 to play. The Mounties used a six-point run over the next four minutes to extend their lead to eight, 69-61, with 3:24 to play. Anderson drilled a three on the other end of the court to cut the lead back down to five 69-64.

The Mounties answered with a three of their own to push the lead back to eight, 72-64. The Huskies cut the lead back down to four thanks to another three from Mauras with 29 seconds to play but Jaz Farrell drew a foul on the next possession and made both of his free throws to keep it a two-score game. Mauras immediately answered with a layup to get back to within four, 79-75, with 18 seconds left. The Huskies senior
Sam Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) grabbed a defensive rebound but his layup couldn't fall and Farrell put an exclamation point on the win for Mansfield with a dunk in the final seconds to seal the 81-75 win.

Bloomsburg took an early lead in the game, 3-0, thanks to a three from Mauras 2:17 into action and the Huskies pushed their lead to 6-2 with 16:10 to play in the first. The Huskies eventually pushed their lead to nine, 17-8, but a Mansfield 7-0 run cut the deficit to two, 17-15, with 9:55 to go before the break. Bloomsburg maintained its lead until a layup from Jahmir Green gave the Mounties their first lead at 25-24 with 4:20 to play in the first.

The Mounties maintained their lead for the rest of the first, but the Huskies trimmed it to two, 34-32, thanks to a layup from Anderson with 24 seconds before halftime.

Mansfield kept the lead for the first five minutes of the second half until Anderson drained a three with 14:52 to play to tie the game at 41-41. The Huskies tied the game twice more over the next minute. After the Mounties took the lead back at 56-53 with 10:23 to play but Anderson hit another three 13 seconds later to tie the game at 56-56.
Jake Nelson (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Rustin) gave the lead back to the Huskies for the first time in the half with a two with 10:07 to play. The Mounties answered and took the lead for good at 60-58 with 9:30 to play. The Huskies didn't back down but their final minute heroics fell just short.

The Mounties won the rebounding battle 50-46 and shot 42.1% (32-for-76) for the game and went 9-for-17 from the free throw line. Mansfield was 8-for-20 from beyond the arc.

The Huskies get back on the court on Monday as they host Shepherd at 7:30 p.m. in a PSAC contest. The Rams are 6-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play after falling to #10 West Chester, 84-77, Friday evening.
