General | 10/7/2020 11:53:00 AM

BLOOMSBURG, Pa – The Bloomsburg University director of athletics, Michael McFarland, has announced that following a recommendation from Protect Our Pack, there will be no scheduled athletic events, practices, or responsibilities on November 3, 2020, to allow all student-athletes an equal opportunity to vote in the upcoming election.

All student-athletes, along with the student body as a whole, are encouraged to register to vote. BU is offering assistance to any student who needs help with the registration process.

Registration to vote in Pennsylvania is quick and easy. The deadline is Monday, October 19, but there are plenty of reasons to register now. All you need is a PA Driver's License or PA Identification card. If your home is in another state or you don't have either PA identification cards, you can still register. Check out this video [youtu.be] on how to register.

Students can join Bloomsburg University librarians Courtney Paddick and Katie Yelinek for Election Smarts, an interactive Zoom session where BU students will learn how to research the presidential candidates and identify bias in news reporting. Sessions will be held Monday, October 12, from 6-7 p.m. and Wednesday, October 14, from 12 to 1 p.m.

Register for the October 12 session at https://bloomu.libcal.com/calendar/libraryevents/electionclass [bloomu.libcal.com] or the October 14 session at https://bloomu.libcal.com/calendar/libraryevents/electionclass2 [bloomu.libcal.com]
