Men's Soccer Evens Season Series with East Stroudsburg, Wins 3-2 on the Road Saturday

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team evened the season series with East Stroudsburg as the Huskies defeated the Warriors on the road, 3-2, Saturday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action. With the win, the Huskies improved to 8-5 for the year and 4-4 in PSAC East action while the Warriors dropped to 5-5-2 for the year and 3-2-2 in conference play.

Scoring came early and often for the Huskies scored just 3:26 into action. Freshman Anthony Schlee (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead with his fourth of the year thanks to an assist from Olly Whitham (Clitheroe, Lancashire, England/Settle College). Wanting to waste no time, sophomore Alex Wilsterman (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) increased the BU lead to 2-0 at 4:03.

The Warriors quickly got one back just over four minutes later as Brady Turocy scored for the eighth time this season. The Huskies put the final touches on their three-goal game as Terrence Edwards (North Ridgeville, Ohio/St. Edward) grabbed a pass from Whitham for his first goal of the season.

Turocy scored the final goal of the game in the 47th minute on a penalty kick to cut the Huskies lead to 3-2.

After a physical rest of the season half, the Huskies kept the Warriors from getting their equalizer and came away with a 3-2 win.

Whitham led the Huskies with three shots while senior goalie Nathan Slotnick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) made five saves in net for Bloomsburg.

The Huskies return to action on Wednesday when they host Shepherd University for a 4:30 pm contest.
