Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) posted 1,000 career points against Pitt-Johnstown, Saturday afternoon as the. Bloomsburg University women's basketball team suffered a hard-fought loss, 51-46, against the Mountain Cats. With the loss, the Huskies dropped to 1-3 for the year while Pitt-Johnstown improves to 2-2 for the year.

The Huskies opened the game going 7-for-11 (63.64%) going in the first quarter. The Huskies narrowly out-scored Pitt-Johnstown in the first quarter, 15-13. Pitt-Johnstown took the lead in the second, 26-21 as the Huskies had a chance to close the gap in the final two seconds of the half after a steal and potential three-pointer from sophomore
Emma Gochnauer (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), but unfortunately missed and the Huskies ended the half down by five.

The Mountain Cats and Huskies went back and forth and settled for the 11-11 tie in the third quarter. Freshman Lauren Krisch hit a three-pointer in the final minute of the third period to narrow the gap, 32-37. Midway through the quarter, Sexton hit a jumper in the paint for her 10
th point of the game and her 1,001 points of her career. After a potential chance for the Mountain Cats to pull further ahead in the final six seconds, Sophomore
Megan Fisher (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) posted a huge block for the Huskies and they headed into the last quarter down by five.

The Huskies tied up the game, 39-39, three minutes into the final quarter after a jumper from graduate student
Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) with the assist coming from Fisher. Pitt-Johnstown took the lead back two minutes later after a shot in the paint from Mountain Cats, Ashley Norling. The Mountain Cats extended their lead by six and the Huskies closed the gap after a two free throw after a foul on Saxton with four minutes remaining in regulation. Both teams went back and forth for the remaining four minutes, but Pitt-Johnstown was able to take the win, 51-46 over Bloomsburg.

Saxton led the team with 18 points total, ending the game with 1,009 total BU career points. Corridoni trailed closely behind putting up 8 points total as well as posting 7 rebounds, the most for the Huskies. Gochnauer and Saxton added 6 rebounds each for the Huskies.
As a team, the Huskies shot 35.1% (20-for-57) from the floor and were 2-for-12 from the three-point line. The Huskies were 4-for-9 from the free throw line.
Pitt- Johnstown shot 34.0% from the floor (18-for-53) and were just 1-for-18 from beyond the arc. The Tigers capitalized at the free throw line, putting up 14 of the 18-shot taken (77.8%).

The Huskies host their first 2021-22 season game against Chestnut Hill College in non-conference action at the Nelson Field House on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
