WILMINGTON, Del. – Tuesday evening, despite a season-high 25 points from junior
Justin Anderson (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll), the Bloomsburg University basketball team dropped a hard-fought 84-75 decision to Goldey-Beacom College. With the loss, the Huskies fell to 0-3 on the year while the Lightning improved to 2-3.

Anderson paced the Huskies with 25 points behind a 9-for-20 day on the floor, including 3-for-7 from beyond the arc. Anderson was 4-for-7 from the free-throw line as well. He pulled down seven rebounds, dished out a pair of assists, had the team's only block, and picked up two steals. Junior
Travis Elmore (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) posted 19 points for the Huskies and had seven rebounds, while senior
Jake Nelson (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Rustin) led the team with 14 rebounds and added six points and two steals.

As a team, the Huskies went 31-for-70 (44.3%) from the floor for the game and were 5-for-20 from long range. Bloomsburg was 8-for-15 from the free-throw line.
The Huskies out-rebounded the Lightning 43-38 and held a slight 20-19 advantage in second-chance points. Goldey-Beacom took advantage of the Huskies' 14 turnovers and scored 19 points off of turnovers.

As a team, the Lightning shot 48.5% (32-for-66) for the game and was 5-for-22 from three-point range. Goldey-Beacom was 15-for-18 from the free-throw line, including going 5-for-6 in the final 90 seconds of gameplay. The Lightning had three players reach double-figures as Nazim Derry led all players with 31 points and Tyler Jones chipped in 20. Mekhi Collins added 14 points for the Lightning.

Bloomsburg tied the game twice in the second half. With 15:45 to play in the second, Anderson drained a three after a steal by Nelson and thanks to an assist from Elmore, but Derry answered with a three of his own to give the lead back to the Lightning. Goldey-Beacom held on to the lead until the 8:03 mark.

With 8:03 to play, Anderson hit a pair of free throws to tie the game at 62-62 before giving the Huskies a 63-62 lead. A layup followed with a good free throw with 7:03 to play to push the Huskies' lead to 66-62. Jones cut it back to two at the 6:48 mark, but Elmore extended the lead back to four, 68-64, with a layup at the 6:40 mark. Back-to-back layups by Derry and Collins tied the game at 68-68, and Collins hit a pair of free throws to give Goldey-Beacom a 70-68 lead with 5:05 left in regulation.

The Lightning eventually pushed their lead back to six, 77-71, with 3:11 to play, and a jumper from
Justin Rodriguez (Easton, Pa./Morristown-Beard) with 2:47 to play got the Huskies to within four, 77-73. With time running out, the Huskies were forced to foul to try and preserve the clock, but Goldey-Beacom out-scored the Huskies 7-2 in the final 1:29 to seal the 84-75 win, including five points from the free-throw line.
The Huskies return to the court after a short break for Thanksgiving when they host Wilmington (Del.) on Sunday, November 28. The opening tip is set for 2:00 pm at Nelson Field House.
