Football edged by Seton Hill on the road, 13-7

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University football team (0-2) was edged out, 13-7, on the road tonight at Seton Hill University (2-0) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West crossover.
 
The two teams were tied 7-7 at halftime and the Huskies' defensive unit recorded three interceptions for the game, but in the end, two second-half field goals proved to be the difference for the host-Griffins.
 
After a scoreless first quarter, Seton Hill went up 7-0 after a 4-yard touchdown run from Jaiquawn McGriff. The score came with 12:15 left in the second quarter and capped a 5-play, 43-yard drive.
 
Bloomsburg tied the game with 6:03 left in the half after a quick strike from freshman quarterback David LePoidevin (Middlesex, N.J./Bound Brook) (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) to redshirt-sophomore John Ayres (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel) (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel). The two connected for a 14-yard TD-pass that capped a 3-play drive.
 
With 2:30 left in the third quarter, Seton Hill's Luke Hauger connected on a 19-yard field goal attempt that put the hosts up 10-7. Hauger was good again with 4:41 left in the game, and his 25-yard field goal helped seal the win for Seton Hill.
 
Several Huskies stood out on defense, including sophomore Adam Burkhart (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), who recorded a team-high 12 tackles, including nine solo stops.
 
Redshirt-sophomore Ron Long (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) finished with eight tackles and junior Quentin Gaskill (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) tallied seven tackles.
 
Gaskill, senior Chase Heath (Dover, Pa./Dover Area) (Dover, Pa./Dover Area) and redshirt-senior Chris Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) all had interceptions.
 
LePoidevin finished 6-for-13 passing with 54 yards and the Bloomsburg touchdown.
 
Redshirt-Senior Tyshaun Pollard (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) made three catches and freshman Kaleb Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) carried the ball 12 times for 50 yards (4.2 yds./attempt).
 
After back-to-back road games to open the 2021 season, Bloomsburg will return home to host Gannon in Week-3 action. Kickoff next Saturday (Sept. 18) is set for 2 p.m. at Danny Hale Field at Redman Stadium.
