BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University volleyball team played on its home court for the first time since 2019 and came away with a 3-1 victory over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East foe, Lock Haven University, Friday night. The Huskies improved to 6-7 on the year and opened PSAC East play 1-0 while the Bald Eagles dropped to 2-9 for the season and 0-1 in conference action.

The Huskies won the first set handedly, 25-13, before Lock Haven came back and took the second set 25-20. Bloomsburg rolled to 25-15 set win in the third and closed out the match with a hard-fought 25-17 win in the fourth set.

For the match, senior
Grace Giza (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) had one of her best hitting performances of the season with seven kills and a .316 hitting percentage. She added a team-best five blocks and collected a pair of digs. Senior
Sydney Buell (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) led the team with 11 kills and had a match-best five aces while graduate student
Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) finished the day with 38 digs, five assists and a service ace.

Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) collected nine kills and five digs for the day while sophomore
Aydan Espinal (Rock Hill, S.C./Rock Hill) dished out 14 assists and senior
Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) handed out 12.

As a team, the Huskies hit .149 with 39 kills and had seven total aces. The Huskies post six solo blocks and 12 block assists while the Bald Eagles had just five solo blocks and two block assists.

Bloomsburg returns to action next Friday when the Huskies continue PSAC East play. The Huskies welcome Millersville University to Nelson Field House for a 7:00 pm start before hosting West Chester on Saturday for a 1:00 pm match.
