THE GAME
The Huskies come into today's game off a tough 27-21 loss to East Stroudsburg last Saturday on Homecoming. The Warriors stopped the Huskies on the goal line late in the fourth quarter to hold on to the win. The Rams come in to Saturday's game off a 47-14 win over West Chester last Saturday. Shepherd is currently ranked No. 3 by the American Football Coaches Association and No. 6 by d2football.com.

THE SERIES
The Rams hold a 2-1 all-time series lead over the Huskies and are 2-0 against BU in PSAC contests. The Huskies lone win game in 2006 when Bloomsburg defeated Shepherd 24-21 in Shepherdstown before the Rams joined the conference. Both of Shepherd's wins came at Redman Stadium.

SCOUTING SHEPHERD
Shepherd comes into the game with a perfect 8-0 record and a 5-0 slate in conference play. The Rams defeated California (Pa.) 26-23 in overtime in Week Three and have outscored their opponents 246-86 since, including a 47-14 win last week over West Chester.

The Rams are led by reigning Harlon Hill winner Tyler Bagent at quarterback. Bagnet is putting together another impressive season with 2,563 passing yards and an incredible 70% completion percentage. Bagnet is 210-for-300 with four interceptions and 23 touchdowns thrown. A favorite target of Bagnet is Marlon Cook, with 49 catches for 829 yards and six touchdowns. Brian Walker has 423 yards on 32 catches and three touchdowns, while Ryan Beach has 355 yards on 45 catches and five touchdowns.

The rushing attack is led by Ronnie Brown, with 931 yards on 102 carries and 10 touchdowns. Brown is averaging 9.1 yards per carry and 116.38 yards per game this season. Blake Hartman is second on the team with 306 yards on 38 carries and four touchdowns. Bagnet has run in four touchdowns himself this season as well.

Defensively, the Rams are led by Keyshawn Halley with 44 total tackles, including 0.5 TFL for one yard. Halley has one interception, three broken-up passes, and one forced fumble this season. Devon Lynch is second on the team with 42 tackles and 4.5 TFL for 11 yards. He has one sack for five yards, two interceptions, one broken-up pass, and two forced fumbles. Kyle Smith has 32 total tackles this season but has been a menace behind the line of scrimmage and for opposing quarterbacks. Smith has 11.5 TFL for 65 yards and 7.0 sacks for 57 yards. He has one interception, one quarterback hurry, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Bloomsburg comes into the game with a 3-5 overall record after dropping a 27-21 decision to East Stroudsburg last week. The Huskies rebounded from a 24-0 loss to Kutztown three weeks ago with a 17-9 win over Lock Haven two weeks ago. The Huskies defeated 21-17 West Chester on October 1. The Huskies opened the year with a 33-30 loss in double overtime to FCS DI Stonehill before beating Clarion 42-3. The Huskies dropped an overtime 23-20 decision to Edinboro before falling to Shippensburg 31-17 on September 24.

KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) is expected to start again under center for the Huskies. Riley is 58-for-99 on the year with 828 yards, eight touchdowns, and four interceptions. David LePoidevin (Middlesex, N.J./Bound Brook) is 19-for-36 and has 231 yards, one touchdown pass, and two interceptions this year.

Matthew Bowes (Somerton, Pa./La Salle College HS) continues to be the favorite target of BU quarterbacks with 18 catches and 249 yards, and three touchdowns, while Kaleb Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) is a dual threat for the Huskies. Monaco has six catches for two touchdowns and 150 yards while rushing for a team-leading 350 yards on 92 carries. Nas Jones (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) has a touchdown and 10 catches for 146 yards. Owen Anderson (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) has 11 catches for 130 yards, while John Mack (Minisink Valley, N.Y./Minisink Valley) has six catches for 92 yards and a score.

Riley has carried the ball for 183 yards on 50 attempts and a touchdown this season, while Logan Simmon (Hereford, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) has 35 carries for 113 yards this season. Last week, Luke Jelus (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) blocked a punt against ESU that Owen Anderson (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) recovered for a touchdown.

SCOOP AND SCORE
The Huskies had a pair of scoop and scores three weeks ago against West Chester. Hakeem Bacon (Chester, Pa./STEM Academy) got his first career touchdown after grabbing the loose ball after Ryan D'Ambra (Southampton, Pa./Archbishop Wood) blocked West Chester's punt at its own 43 yard line. William Martin III (Darby Township, Pa./Academy Park) got in on the action as he grabbed a fumble and hustled down the field for an 88-yard fumble recovery TD, which was also his first career TD.

Chris Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) added another scoop and score for the Huskies last week against ESU after he forced a fumble on the snap of a Warrior field goal attempt late in the first quarter and recovered the loose ball for a 59-yard score.

START OF A NEW STREAK
After their streak of 211 straight games scoring at least one point was snapped two weeks ago at Kutztown, the Huskies rebounded at Lock Haven to win 17-9 and begin a new streak. Bloomsburg pushed its streak to two against ESU last week, falling 27-21. The last time the Huskies were shut out was in 2003, a 21-0 home loss against Shippensburg on September 13. Bloomsburg is 115-3 all-time when scoring at least 40 points in a game. However, the Huskies have only reached the 40-point plateau seven times in the last 49 contests. The Huskies defeated Clarion 42-3 five weeks ago at home.

OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN (S)
The Huskies named a group of 10 leaders as captains for the 2022 season - Aaron Trumino (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley), Tyshaun Pollard (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East), Chris Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West), Adam Burkhart (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), Jack Riley (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East), Quentin Gaskill (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro), Billy Martin, Ky Seesholtz (Mifflinville, Pa./Central Columbia), John Ayres (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel), and Tom Goetz (Wenonah, N.J./Gateway Regional).

THE RILEY FILE
Freshman QB KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) is off to a strong start for the Huskies. Riley has thrown for 826 yards and eight touchdowns in his first seven games. He is 58-99-4 and has rushed for 183 yards on 50 attempts and one touchdown. Riley is averaging 3.7 yards per carrying this year. After throwing a limited number of times during the opening week, Riley was the poster child for efficiency against Clarion, completing 11 of his 13 passes for 258 yards and four scores. He ran the ball six times for 64 yards and a touchdown.

ONE LAST RIDE
The Huskies may be young this season but boast a wealth of leadership from crucial upperclassmen. Samuel Darrell III (Plainfield, N.J./Pope John XXIII Regional), a transfer, Chris Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West), Tyshaun Pollard (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East), and Aaron Trumino (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) are playing in their final season as graduate students, while Jamir Redd (Chester, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) is suiting up for the Maroon & Gold as a senior this season

THE TOWN OF BROTHERLY LOVE
The Huskies boast a pair of brothers on their roster again this season. Senior Chris Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) returned to make up for the lost season due to COVID to join his brother, Kaleb, in Bloomsburg Maroon & Gold for the second-straight season. Sophomore quarter David LePoidevin (Middlesex, N.J./Bound Brook) welcomes his little brother, Patrick, to a strong group of signal callers for the Huskies this season.

This season, the Monaco brothers are impacting both sides of the ball. His younger brother, Kaleb, is the team's leading rusher, with 350 yards on the ground on 92 carries. He has 150 receiving yards on six catches and has two touchdowns. 62 of his yards in the air came off a touchdown pass from KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) against Clarion. Monaco leads the team with 824 all-purpose yards with 324 kick return yards. He racked up 127 yards on the kick return three weeks ago against Shippensburg.

Older brother, Chris, has made his presence known to opposing quarterbacks this season. He has 27 tackles, 18 solo, and seven broken-up passes. Chris picked off Edinboro's Isaac Bernard and returned it for 23 yards to set up a short field for the Huskies. KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) threw a 25-yard TD pass to Matthew Bowes (Somerton, Pa./La Salle College HS) on the next play. Chris had a 25-yard interception return again West Chester three weeks ago. Chris also forced and returned a fumble for a touchdown against ESU.

FRESH OUTLOOK
The Huskies boast one of the youngest starting lineups in all of Division II college football. On opening day, Bloomsburg looks to start 17 freshmen or sophomores and had 37 underclassmen total listed on the depth chart.

Under center KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) has started the seven games for the Huskies and is the projected starter today. This season, Riley is 58-for-99 with eight TDs and four INTs. He has 826 yards in the air. Riley is second on the team with 183 rushing yards and a touchdown. Number two behind him is sophomore David LePoidevin (Middlesex, N.J./Bound Brook), who played in 10 games last season and threw for 1,423 yards and 16 touchdowns. LePoidevin is 19-for-36 with one touchdown, two interceptions, and 231 yards this year. Sophomore Ben Ries (Bloomsbury, N.J./Phillipsburg) has gotten time in three games for the Huskies at QB and has run for 62 yards on 11 carries and one touchdown.

Protecting the two QBs will be a mix of red-shirt juniors, sophomores, and freshmen. Jake Yoder, Marlon Wescott, Nelly Fain (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy), and Aaron Bensinger (New Ringgold, Pa./Blue Mountain) look to bring leadership to the young group of o-linemen.

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS
Coach Sheptock did not have to go far for talent to fill this year's roster. The 2022 Huskies boast 27 players from Columbia and surroundings counties. The Huskies have three players from local Danville Area High School and another from Southern Columbia and Berwick.

The local talent made an immediate impact on the field for the Huskies this season. KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area), from Danville, Pa., has started every game under center and is responsible for six of the Huskies' touchdowns this year, either passing or rushing.

Kaleb Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West), a Pocono Pines native, has rushed for 350 yards and caught six passes for another 150 and two touchdowns. He has 324 yards on kick returns as well.

John Ayres (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel), a running back from Mt. Carmel, has a pair of rushing touchdowns this season, and Nas Jones (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area), from Williamsport, Pa., has 146 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Owen Anderson (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore Area), from Jersey Shore, Pa., has 130 receiving yards on 11 catches this season.

Jake Davis (Elysburg, Pa./Southern Columbia), an Elysburg, Pa. native and product of Southern Columbia, has eight tackles

I'LL TAKE THAT
The Huskies dominated the turnover battle against Stonehill and picked up right where they left off in 2021. Bloomsburg forced one fumble and recovered a pair of fumbles as Stonehill muffed a punt early in the second quarter that Deeko Kofa (Philadelphia, Pa./Samuel Fels) jumped on to get the ball back to the Huskies with a short field. The Huskies needed just 25 yards to get into the end zone on a run by Zane Janiszewski (Hollisterville, Pa./Western Wayne) and a fumble recovery by John Ayres (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel). Quentin Gaskill (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) had his first pick of the season late in the fourth quarter as he intercepted a pass in the end zone by Stonehill.

The Huskies did not turn the ball over against Clarion and are currently ranked 65th in the NCAA with a +0.12 turnover margin.

Against Edinboro, the Huskies had one interception which set up a touchdown drive and Tom Goetz (Wenonah, N.J./Gateway Regional) returned a fumble for a score at the end of the third quarter.

The Huskies made the most of their turnovers against West Chester with an 88-yard fumble return for a TD and a fumble recovery that halted a potential West Chester scoring drive.

Quentin Gaskill (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro)s intercetiion and Ron Long's (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) forced fumble late in the forced quarter sealed the 17-9 win for the Huskies last week against Lock Haven.

Chris Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) forced a returned a fumble for a touchdown against ESU last weekend. This season, the Huskies have scored  45 points off turnovers

SHEPTOCK ERA
Sheptock was named the 28th head football coach in Bloomsburg University as he returns to his alma mater to take over the Huskies' program. Sheptock was at Division III Wilkes University as the defensive coordinator from 1990-95 and then took over the Colonels' program and served as head coach from 1996-2014. While at Wilkes, Sheptock went 107-81 overall and established the program record for most wins in a season (11) and career (107) while leading the Colonels to nine postseason appearances.

A member of the NCAA Division II Team of the Quarter Century (1973-97), Sheptock played linebacker for head coach George Landis and holds the school records for tackles in a career (537), single-season (159), and single-game (23), as well as career fumble recoveries (12). His program record for tackles in a single game, in fact, occurred during the national semifinal contest at North Alabama.

HUDDLE WITH THE HUSKIES
For the second-straight year, head coach Frank Sheptock will host "Huddle with the Huskies" at Quaker Steak & Lube in Buckhorn, Pa., on three select Thursdays this season. The final Huddle will take place on November 3, just before the Huskies' last home game of the season against Millersville.

The events are open to the public, with dinner beginning at 6:00 p.m. and a short program to follow. A buffet dinner will be held each night, with the cost of the meal being $14 per person - including a non-alcoholic beverage. Following the dinner, Coach Sheptock will speak about the season, preview the upcoming game(s), and introduce members of the coaching staff and players from this year's roster.

KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) and Ky Seesholtz (Mifflinville, Pa./Central Columbia) headlined the first Huddle with the Huskies and were joined by Joseph Kahn (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove). The three talked about their time so far at Bloomsburg, what brought them to the Huskies, and what to expect this season.

John Ayres (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel) and Owen Anderson (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) headlined the second Huddle with the Huskies on October 20. Ayres is an Mt. Carmel, Pa. native and went to Mt. Carmel, while Anderson comes from Cogan Station, Pa., and went to Jersey Shore Area High School.
