BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team didn't let a little cold slow down its offense as the Huskies took down Georgian Court, 16-14, to open the season on Saturday afternoon. Ten different Huskies found their way on the stat sheet for Bloomsburg as they opened the year 1-0.

Senior
Abby Kalish (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) got things started right away for the Huskies as she finished off her first free position shot of the season for the 1-0 lead just 55 seconds into the action. The Lions tied the game just under two minutes later, but Kalish and sophomore
Madison Coyle (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) went back-to-back on the next two Husky possession to give BU a 3-1 lead. The Lions answered with Shaine Sauter's first goal to make it a one-goal game with 5:47 to play in the opening quarter.

The Huskies opened the scoring with four straight, including a goal from Coyle, Kalish, and juniors
Annie Rollins (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) and
Kelsey Clauss (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) to take a 7-2 lead with 14:05 to play in the second quarter. The Lions rattled off a pair of goals to make it 7-4 before junior
Kate Roberts (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) got on the board with her first of the year to make it 8-4. Kalish found the back of the next for the fifth time before sophomore
Cassidy Griffin (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North) gave the Huskies a 10-4 lead with her first goal in the maroon and gold. Sauter closed out the half with her second tally, and the Huskies carried a 10-5 lead into halftime.

Georgian Court opened the second half with three-straight goals to cut the lead to two, 10-8, but Kalish's fifth of the game halted the run and kicked off a three-goal sprint which included tallies from Clauss and Roberts that carried over into the fourth quarter. Georgian Court scored twice more to cut the lead to four, 15-11, but Roberts found the back of the net for the third time to give the Huskies a 16-11 advantage. The Lions closed out the game with a three-goal run to cut the lead to 16-14, but Bloomsburg's defense kept the Lions from attempting a comeback as the Huskies held on for the 16-14 win.

Freshman
Lauren Foley (Schwenksville /Perkiomen Valley High School ) made eight saves in her Bloomsburg debut and first win as a Husky. Kalish won seven draw controls, and senior
Erika Biehl (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) caused four turnovers for the Huskies.

Kalish led the team with five goals and one assist, while Roberts finished with three goals. Sophomore
Katie Fluck (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) dished out a team-best three assists for Bloomsburg.

On Saturday, March 5, the Huskies return to action when they travel to IUP for a 2:00 pm non-conference match-up with the Crimson Hawks.
