BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team battled for a tough 7-0 win over Daemen University, Friday afternoon.

The Huskies battled through chilly and windy conditions to clinch the doubles point before sweeping the singles matches.

Albert Martin (Barcelona/Instituto Menendez y Pelayo) and
Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/Furst Johann Ludwig Schule) opened the match with a 6-4 win at No. 1 Doubles before
Oliver Wiesemann (Jena, Germany/Deutsche Schule Málaga (Spain)) and
Vishesh Patel () clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Daeman won at No. 2 Doubles for its only win of the match.

Scott Redmond (Paget, Bermuda/Warwick Academy) opened singles action with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles before Wiesemann pushed the Huskies lead to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
Vini Moura (Recife, Brazil/Hoosac School) made his presence known in his first singles match of the year as he clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles for the fourth team point. Martin won at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-3 to give Bloomsburg a 5-0 lead.

"It was a good fight from everyone on a tough windy day," remarked head coach
Rebecca Helt. "This was Vini's first dual match, so it was good to see him clinch the 4th point."

Luetzig had a tough match at No. 1 singles as he took the first set 6-2 before dropping the second 6-4. Luetzig and Luis de Vuyst were embattled in a back-and-forth super breaker. Luetzig came out on top – 13-11 to push Bloomsburg's lead to 6-0.
Fernando Barros (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Hoosac School) won the final match at No. 3 singles to clinch the sweep for Bloomsburg. Zachary LaPlante took the first set 6-3 before Barros came back for a 6-3 win in the second set. Barros clinched the match with a 11-9 win in the super breaker for the match win.

"The two remaining matches. Luetzig and Barros, went to a super breaker where they both faced multiple match points against them at 6-9 down, but battled back for the win."

The Huskies open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday when they travel to Millersville University for a 1:00 pm match.
