BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team went 2-1 this past week, including a pair of key Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) wins. The Huskies defeated Kutztown 7-0 and Shepherd 6-1 while they fell to non-conference opponent, Morgan State, 6-1.

The Huskies got out to a strong start in their conference win over Kutztown on Wednesday as they claimed the doubles point with two wins in the opening matches.
Scott Redmond (Paget, Bermuda/Warwick Academy) and
Chaitanya Choudhary (Karnal, Haryana, India/St. Theresa's Convent) opened the day with a 6-2 win at No. 3 before
Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/Furst Johann Ludwig Schule) and
Albert Martin (Barcelona/Instituto Menendez y Pelayo) clinched the point with a 6-3 win at No. 1.

Martin continued his success in singles play as he won handily 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. Luetzig earned his second win of the day with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 and
Fernando Barros (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Hoosac School) clinched the match win with a hard-fought 7-5, 5-7, 10-4 win at No. 3 for Huskies fourth point of the day.

Oliver Wiesemann (Jena, Germany/Deutsche Schule Málaga (Spain)) earned his first win of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles and Choudhary took No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-3. Redmond closed out the match with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 4.

Bloomsburg won both matches that were played in doubles action to claim the first match point. Redmond and Wiesemann opened the day with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles before Luetzig and Martin clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 1.

Vini Moura (Recife, Brazil/Hoosac School) opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. Wiesemann followed his lead with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 and Barrons once again clinched the match win as he took No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Martin extended the Huskies' lead to 5-0 in the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2. Shepherd claimed its only match point as Sebastian Sevilla won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1.

The Huskies fell to Morgan State 6-1 to open the week. Barros and Wiesemann earned a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles but the Bears won at No. 1 and No. 3 to claim the doubles point.

Martin won the only singles match of the day for the Huskies as he picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Choudhary put up a tough fight at No. 6 as he dropped the first set 6-3 but rebounded for a 6-4 win in the second set to force a tie break. Martial Kawunde pulled out the win with a 10-5 win in the tie break to close out the match.
