Men's Basketball Falls at Home Against Clarion

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup against Clarion, 98-82, inside Nelson Field House on Saturday afternoon.
 
Bloomsburg (2-4, 0-2 PSAC) struck first as DJ Gordon (Pittsburgh, Pa./First Love Christian Academy) drained a three-pointer just over a minute into the contest. The Huskies continued to battle Clarion (4-3, 2-0) as the teams exchanged the lead four times in the first half.
 
After falling behind 26-18, a three from Jagger Dressler (Danville, Pa./Danville) sparked a 20-8 run the put the maroon and gold on top, 38-34 with just over four minutes to play in the first half.
 
A jumper near the end of the frame from Justin Rodriguez (Newark, N.J./Morristown-Beard) gave Bloomsburg a 47-40 lead going into half-time.
 
The Huskies were unable to hold of the pressure from the Golden Eagles in the second half, as Clarion came out on top, 98-82.
 
Jake Nelson (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Rustin) led the Huskies in scoring with 17 points, shooting 5-for-7 from the floor.
 
Raphael Castillo (Newark, N.J./Morristown Beard) and Gordon each recorded 14 points in the contest, shooting a combined 60 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Travis Elmore (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) continued to close in one the 1,000-point mark, recording 7 points.
 
Bloomsburg shot 53.7 percent (29-54) from the floor, including going 16-for 26 in the first half. Clarion's 23-for-34 performance in the second half helped lift the Golden Eagles to victory over the Huskies.
 
The maroon and gold return to action on Wednesday, December 6 for an exhibition game against Temple at 7 p.m.
