WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – The Bloomsburg men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match to Daemen, 5-2, Friday evening, in non-conference action.
Daemen jumped out to a 1-0 lead in doubles with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and took the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 3.
Vishesh Patel (Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India/Asia English School) and
Oliver Wiesemann (Jena, Germany/Deutsche Schule Málaga (Spain)) picked up a doubles win with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
Daemen pushed its match lead to 3-0 with a win at No. 5 and No. 6 singles before
Victor Martinez (Barcelona, Spain/Padre Damian Sagrados Corazones) got the Huskies on the board with a win at No. 4 singles. Martinez took the first set 6-3 but Rohan Chitanand evened the match with a 6-4 win in the second set. Martinez took the match with a 6-1 win in the third.
Iu Casamitjana (Igualada, Spain/Escola Pia Igualada) won the first set 6-3 at No. 1 singles but Alex Lumanog came back for a 7-6 win in the second set. Lumanog took the match with a 6-4 win in the third set to clinch the team match for Daemen. Luis de Vuyst gave Daemen a 5-2 lead with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles over Patel.
Albert Martin (Barcelona/Instituto Menendez y Pelayo) closed out the match for the Huskies with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles.
The Huskies get right back on the court today as they open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action with a 5:30 pm match at Mercyhurst University.
