EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's soccer team dropped its conference opener to East Stroudsburg by a 1-0 result on Wednesday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Â
Bloomsburg (0-2-1, 0-1) recorded the first shot of the game in fifth minute on a shot from senior defender
Maddie Davis (York, Pa./Central York) that sailed wide.
Â
The Huskies held East Stroudsburg (3-0, 1-0) without a shot on goal until the 12th minute, when graduate goalkeeper
Riley Spingler (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) recorded the first save of the contest.
Â
Spingler made four more saves in the next 14 minutes before Natalie Schooley put the Warriors on the board with a long shot that snuck under the bar and past the outstretched fingers of Spingler in the 27th minute.
Â
The Huskies fired three shots on net in the second half, including a header from senior midfielder
Lauren Bull (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) in the 54th minute, but couldn't get one past ESU's Emmy Clarkson.
Â
Spingler's ten saves matched a career-high that came against Mercyhurst on August 25. Bull led the maroon and gold in shots with three.
Â
East Stroudsburg outshot Bloomsburg 17-12 with an 11-6 advantage in shots on goal.
Â
The Huskies next contest is a Saturday afternoon PSAC matchup with Shepherd starting at 1:00 p.m.
