EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg volleyball team fell in four sets to East Stroudsburg inside Koehler Fieldhouse on Friday night.

Bloomsburg (5-11, 3-1 PSAC East) recorded 42 kills in the contest, with
Sophie Wales (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) leading the team with 13.
Tayla Miller (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) recorded 15 digs while
Emily Gustie (Crofton, Md./Crofton) tallied 14.
Elise Adelman (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) notched 37 assists in the game.

Marlee Johnson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) posted the first point of the game with a kill before East Stroudsburg (11-4, 2-2) recorded back-to-back points to take the lead. A second kill from Johnson and an ace from Wales put the Huskies ahead, 3-2. The Warriors took the momentum with a 10-1 run to move the score to 12-4. Bloomsburg slowly closed the gap before a six-point run put the set out of reach, eventually taking the set, 25-12.

ESU carried the momentum into the second set with an early 5-0 run. From there the teams traded points to bring the score to 9-5, before a 5-1 Warriors' run pushed East Stroudsburg ahead 14-6. Another back-and-forth sequence moved the score to 19-11. Bloomsburg closed the gap to as kills from Gustie and
Lydia Worthing (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood Antis) and an ace from
Allison Saalfrank (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) brought the maroon and gold within three. ESU managed to take the momentum right back, rattling off six straight points to end the second set.

An early back-and-forth sequence give East Stroudsburg a 4-3 lead to start the third. Wales posted three kills in an 8-2 Huskies' run that put them up 11-6. ESU responded with a 6-1 run to knot the score at 12 apiece. Bloomsburg grabbed the momentum right back with a 7-2 run that saw five kills and an ace to go ahead 19-14. The Warriors halted the Huskies momentum temporally before a 5-2 run with three kills and two aces gave Bloomsburg a 25-18 victory in the third set.

Johnson recorded a pair of kills in a quick back-and-forth to open the fourth set. The maroon and gold quickly jumped ahead, 6-3 with kills from Gustie and
Grace Rinehimer (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown). After East Stroudsburg tied the set on three errors, both teams traded short runs while keeping each other within three points. With the score tied at 12, ESU posted an 8-2 run to take the lead. Despite the best efforts of the Huskies, the Warriors scored five of the next eight point in the set to win 25-16.

Bloomsburg heads back on the road on Saturday, October 12 as they face off against Kutztown at 4 p.m.
