#4 Field Hockey Captures 4-1 Senior Day Victory Over Slippery Rock

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The No. 4-ranked Bloomsburg field hockey team concluded the 2024 regular season with a victory on Senior Day, defeating Slippery Rock, 4-1, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Steph Pettit Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Aydan McFarland (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) recorded six points with two goals and two assists, matching Jasmine Miller for the most points scored in a PSAC contest this season. Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) and Alyxandra Flick (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) each netted a goal in the game while Kara Koch (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) picked up her ninth assist of the year.

Bloomsburg (14-4, 6-3 PSAC) tested Slippery Rock (4-12, 0-9) early and often in the first quarter, outshooting SRU, 8-0, but were unable to find its way past Grace Burker.

The Rock managed to notch the first goal of the game in the second frame, as Bailee Christman picked up her sixth of the year to put Slippery Rock ahead 1-0.

The Huskies responded two minutes later with Bush's eighth goal of the season. Koch split the defense to bring the ball inside the shooting circle before sending a pass in front of the net. The ball found McFarland who one-touched the ball to a wide-open Bush for the game-tying goal.

Bush nearly posted her second of the game just 77 seconds later, hitting the post on a penalty stroke. The Huskies hit the post once again 21 seconds later on a shot from McFarland.

Bloomsburg took the lead late in the third quarter as McFarland netted her 19th of the season and second of the game on a penalty stroke.

McFarland recorded goal number 20 of the season five minutes in to the fourth quarter, after collecting a pass from Koch.

The Huskies kept on the offensive as Flick found the back of the net four minutes later, deflecting a shot from McFarland between her own legs and the legs of the goalkeeper.

Bloomsburg finished the contest with a 23-6 advantage in shots. The maroon and gold posted 12 shots on goal while holding The Rock to just three.

The Huskies are back in action for the PSAC Quarterfinals on Monday, November 4 at 4 p.m. as they host fifth-seeded West Chester Golden Rams.
