Men's Basketball Bested By Felician at Home

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team fell to Felician, 81-55, in a non-conference matchup inside the Nelson Field House on Tuesday night.

Matt Bengel (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) finished the game with a team-leading 14 points and six rebounds. Danny Bruce (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) notched nine points and five rebounds off the bench. Bruce went 4-for-8 from the floor (50.0 percent).

Freshman guard George Sabatini (Mountain Top, Pa./Holy Redeemer) tallied a career-high eight points, three rebounds and a block in 11 minutes of game action. Sabatini went 3-for-4 from the floor (75.0 percent) and wnet 2-for-2 from the line.

Bloomsburg (1-7) fell behind early as Jabri Fitzpatrick helped pace Felician (3-1) to a 7-0 lead to start the game. Bruce got the maroon and gold on the board with a layup before nailing a three-pointer just 20 seconds later.

The Huskies and the Golden Falcons went back-and-forth for the remainder of the frame, with the Huskies keeping the game within two possessions for much of that stretch. Louie Wild (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) sank a layup in the dying seconds of the frame, bring the score to 36-32 in favor of Felician entering halftime.

The Golden Falcons took control in the second half, pulling away with a decisive 21-3 run in the opening nine minutes of the half. Sabatini gave life back to the Huskies offense, converting on a driving layup to break up Felicians' run.

The freshman found the basket moments later for his second basket in just 32 seconds. Bloomsburg was ultimately unable to close the gap and fell, 81-55, to the Golden Falcons.

Bloomsburg enters the Thanksgiving break and won't find itself in action again until Saturday, December 7 for a 3 p.m. contest against Slippery Rock in Nelson Field House.
