MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - No. 13 Bloomsburg men's soccer team saw its 11-game winning streak come to an end with a 3-0 defeat to Millersville in its regular-season finale Friday evening.
In a game even on the stat sheet, it was the Marauders that had the better swing of luck, converting on three of their five shots on target in the decision.Â
Bloomsburg sits at 14-3-1 overall and falls to 7-2-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division. Millersville secures the East No. 2 seed with the victory, improving to 9-6-2 overall and 6-2-2 in conference.
How It Happened:
In a game between two of the top sides of in the East, both teams difference in approaches generating opportunities going forward. The Huskies were the side better in the early going generating shots, pressuring Marauders' goalkeeper Jake Van Vorhees into making several stops.
Parker Nickelsen (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) pressed wwell from his forward spot, finding space to take a couple of rips at net. His first attempt of the night went over the top of the crossbar while his second was blocked by a Millersville defender before finding the hands of Van Vorhees.
Coming off the bench, Jake Pacacha (Shelton, Conn./St. Joseph) provided some spark going forward with another shot attempt, this time from a free kick, being deflected. Bloomsburg best opportunity came in the 26th minute. Teagan Wallace (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) got a recycled sequence from outside the box and sent in a well-struck cross to the back post. Alex Wilsterman (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) found space but could not square his foot on the ball after initially looking to chest it down.Â
The Marauders netted the opening goal in the 41st minute, taking advantage of space on the wings. Cooper Davis made a well-timed overlapping run to drive down Bloomsburg's endline. Davis swung a low-driven ball back across the middle to Danny Gartner for a 1-0 Millersville lead.Â
The Huskies final near-miss of the opening half came with time ticking off the clock. Pacahca stood over the ball for a corner, putting enough juice on the ball to find Patrick Walsh (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) at the front post. Bloomsburg's leading goalscorer was inches off the equalizer with a headed attempt just off the mark of the top-right corner.
Millersville carried its momentum into the second half with a quick double strike to ice the game on its home field. Roy Parkyn was the offensive focal point, finding the back of the net to make it 2-0 before setting up Louis Wright for a perfectly-hit ball in the upper-half of the goal for the third.Â
The Huskies final chances came primarily from attempts inside the box in the second half. Walsh took several hacks off of volleys in an attempt to ignite his team. Bloomsburg had one clear-cut chance on net with a hard-struck ball at goal, but Van Vorhees was in the right place at the right time to parry the shot from harm.

11-7 / 5-5 - Bloomsburg finished Friday's contest with more total attempts at goal than Millersville, matching the hosts with five shots on target.
734:52 - The Huskies seven-game shoutout streak and standout defensive run ended Saturday afternoon. From its lone goal allowed at St. Thomas Aquinas to the first goal allowed against the Marauders, Bloomsburg went nearly 735 minutes of in-game time without conceeding a goal.
