Women's Basketball Falls in Back-And-Forth Battle with East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's basketball team dropped a pivotal Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest to East Stroudsburg, 56-51, inside Koehler Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening.

Bloomsburg (7-18, 5-14 PSAC) took just five seconds to put points on the board with a Katie Starr (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) layup. East Stroudsburg (8-16, 6-13) answered with a layup of its own 25 seconds later. From there the Warriors went on a 10-4 run to close out the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the Huskies trail by as much as 11 before slowly closing the gap to end the half. Bloomsburg trailed 29-22 going into the locker room.

Bloomsburg dominated in the third quarter, outscoring ESU 18-7. Starr posted eight points in the frame.

The two teams battled in a closely contested fourth quarter, with neither side leading by more than five.

Despite several late buckets from the maroon and gold, they ultimately fell to East Stroudsburg.

Starr led the team in scoring with her 12th 20-point performance of the season. The junior forward went 9-for-12 from the floor and posted five rebounds, two steals and a block.

Maddie LaFrance (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) dropped 14 points with a trio of three-pointers while Lauren Kirsch (Palmyra, Pa./Lower Dauphin) recorded seven points and one triple.

Overall, Bloomsburg went 19-for-46 from the floor with the Warriors posting a nearly identical 19-for-47 shooting performance.
