Â
Justin Byler brought the only run of the contest across the plate on a sacrifice-fly to centerfield.
Â
The Huskies best opportunity to tie the game came in the bottom of the seventh as
Owen Wilhide (York, Pa/Northeastern) lined a one-out double into the left-center field gap. Pinch runner
Jeremy Cawley (Duryea, Pa./Pittston Area) stole third on a
Jeremy Stine (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) strikeout.
Â
Shippensburg's catcher, Andrew Chronister, made a sliding play in foul territory to record the final out of the contest.
Â
Lorson was tacked with his first loss of the season after giving up three hits and one run in 5.1 innings.
Â
J.T. Weaver struck out 12 while picking up his third win of the season. Ethan Miller earned his second save of the season.
Â
Game 2
Â
SU opened the scoring in game two in the top of the season with a solo home run over the right field wall by Austin Baal.
Â
A double by Hinds in the third put him in scoring position before being brought home on an RBI-single through the left side by Mike Heckman.
Â
The maroon and gold cut the lead in half in the fifth as
Dansby Keenan (Cleveland Heights, Oh./Benedictine) singled to left center, bringing Wilson in from second.
Â
A pair of errors in the sixth helped the Raiders post three runs that brought the contest to its eventual final score of 5-1.
Â
Will Dean (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) struck out five in the loss, giving up nine hits and three earned runs in 5.2 innings pitched. Gabe Stotler gave up three hits and one run in his third win of the year.
