LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Bloomsburg lacrosse team held on for an 11-10 win over Georgian Court in an evenly-matched affair Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies improved to 3-0, which ties the program's best start to a season under head coach
Shannon Hertz. The 2023 Huskies also started the season 3-0. The Lions dropped to 3-4 for the season.

With 12:23 to play in the fourth quarter, senior
Amanda Stoll (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) scored to give the Huskies an 11-9 lead and an insurance goal, which proved to be the game winner. With just over two minutes to play in regulation, the Lions forced a turnover and picked up a ground ball to set up their offense. At the 1:54 mark, Isabel Raimondi scored to cut the Huskies' lead to one, 11-10.

Stoll won the ensuing draw control for the Huskies and Bloomsburg ran off a minute of time off the clock before Georgian Court made a last-ditch effort to tie the game. With 48 seconds to play, the Lions caused a turnover and completed their clear attempt. A green card for the Huskies gave the Lions a woman-up advantage, but a turnover by Georgian Court in the final seconds ended the come-back attempt and Bloomsburg hung on for the 11-10 win.

Georgian Court got out to the early lead with the first goal of the game 46 seconds into action, but Bloomsburg quickly answered and took a 2-1 advantage over the next six minutes.
Julia Cote (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) got on the board from an assist from
Tori Bruno (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and
Sophia Zelasko (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) gave the lead to the Huskies with a woman-up goal thanks to a pass from
Maya Fulmer (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) at the 8:12 mark.

The Lions scored twice to end the first quarter and re-take the lead, 3-2. The Huskies sandwiched a pair of goals from
Marykate Sitko (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and Fulmer around another Lions' goal to tie the game 4-4 with 10:42 to play in the second. Georgian Court took its largest lead of the game with two-straight strikes to go up 6-4 with 6:48 to play but the Huskies answered with a pair of strikes of their own from Stoll and
Kayla Stressman (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) to keep the game tied, 6-6. Riley O'Connor took the lead back for Georgian Court at the 2:14 mark but four-straight goals to end the second and start the third gave Bloomsburg the lead for good.

With 1:35 to play in the half,
Madison Coyle (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) tied the game at 7-7. With 25 seconds to play before halftime,
Kristen Lee (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) caused a turnover in and Stoll picked up the ground ball to get the Huskies on offense with six seconds to play. With just three ticks on the clock, Stressman found the back of the net thanks to a quick pass from
Kate Roberts (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) to give Bloomsburg an 8-7 lead at the break.

Coyle and
Emily Simpson (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) scored back to back goals for Bloomsburg to push the Huskies' lead to 10-7, the largest advantage for any team during the contest.

Georgian Court made a comeback attempt with two-straight goals to end the third and start the fourth, but Stoll's insurance goal at the 12:23 mark proved to be the difference maker.

The Lions won the draw control battle, 15-10, but Coyle led the Huskies with five DCs.
The Huskies were 20-for-26 on clear attempts and finished the day 3-for-6 on free position shots.

Stressman, Coyle, and Stoll finished the day with two goals each while Stressman added an assist. Bruno led the team with two assists.

Defensively, Lee paced the Huskies with three caused turnovers while Coyle, Stoll, and
Delaney Allen (/) all picked up four ground balls.
Lauren Foley (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) earned the win with 10 saves in cage while her counterpart, Natalie Moradian, took the loss for the Lions with five saves.

The Huskies have 10 days off before they return to action on Saturday, March 16 when they welcome Mercy University to Steph Pettit Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. contest. Â
