Men's Tennis Falls to Edinboro in PSAC Semifinals

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg men's tennis team fell to the top-seed in the West, Edinboro, 5-0, Friday morning in the 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournament semifinals. The Huskies finish the season at 7-9 while the Fighting Scots improve to 14-7 on the year.

Edinboro jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the match with wins at No. 2 doubles (6-1) and No. 3 doubles (6-3). Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin) and Vishesh Patel (Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India/Asia English School) were just a game down in the No. 1 doubles match, 4-3, when the point was clinched at No. 3 doubles.

The Fighting Scots took a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles and went ahead 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4. Gordan Mileusnic clinched the match for Edinboro at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win while Noel Stanislas played out the No. 3 singles match for a 6-4, 6-0 win. Fernando Barros (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Hoosac School) gave Stanislas all he could handle in the first set at No. 3, going back and fourth in game-wins before Stanislas pulled away for the 6-4 win in the first set.

Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/) and Dilan were down 4-3 in the second set in their respectives matches when match point was scored.

Edinboro goes on to face Millersville for the 2024 PSAC Men's Tennis crown at the Burt Reese Tennis Center on Saturday, May 4.
