BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup against East Stroudsburg at Steph Pettit Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Bloomsburg (2-1, 0-1 PSAC East) applied the pressure early with
Marlee Potillo (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) recording the first shot of the game.
Anika Krasnai (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) posted the first shot on goal in the ninth minute.

An 11th minute chance from East Stroudsburg (2-0, 1-0) forced
Samantha Merklin (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) on the move for the save.

The Huskies and the Warriors traded offensive chances in the first half as the two teams finished with eight shots apiece. ESU held the edge in shots on goal after 45 minutes, holding a 5-2 advantage.

The battle continued in the second half, as the maroon and gold fired the first shot of the half two minutes in. The Warriors responded with a pair of shots on goal across a span of 69 seconds.

East Stroudsburg capitalized in the 79th minute, scoring on the counterattack as Abby James was able to find a way past Merklin.

Despite five corner kicks in the last ten minutes, the Huskies comeback attempt fell short.

Merklin recorded seven saves in the contest, several of which required diving efforts from the junior netminder.

Sydney Donovan (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) led Bloomsburg with three shots.
