Â
Millersville (86-, 4-4 PSAC) opened the scoring early with a dunk from Drew Stover 14 seconds in. Stover doubled the lead a minute later before
Jagger Dressler (Danville, Pa./Danville) drained a three-pointer to put Bloomsburg (3-12, 2-6) on the board. After getting a stop, Wild gave the Huskies their first lead of the contest with a mid-range jumper.
Â
From there, Bloomsburg and Millersville exchanged the lead eight more times. Neither team was able to pull away from their opponent with the largest lead of the half being just four points. The Huskies took a 38-37 lead into halftime.
Â
Isiah Sherman (Philadelphia, Pa./Lincoln) got to the free throw line to start the half and sank one to open the second-half scoring. Bengel found his way to the charity strip just 20 seconds later and hit both to put the Huskies ahead 41-37. Later in the frame, Bengel drove the paint for a layup that gave Bloomsburg the first multi-possession lead of the game. The Erie-native then found the twine two more times to give the maroon and gold a nine-point advantage.
Â
The Marauders put pressure back on the home team and closed the gap before three-pointers from Bruce and Bengel put the Huskies up by double-digits. A jumper from Bruce just past the halfway mark gave Bloomsburg a 13-point lead, its largest of the afternoon.
Â
Millersville continued to fight, pulling within six points with under 80 seconds to play. The visitors sent the maroon and gold to the line in hopes of making the comeback, but Bloomsburg went 7-for-7 on free throws to close out the game, 78-71.
Â
The victory puts an end to a 10-game losing streak against the Marauders dating back to January 16, 2018.
