Brower adds another layer to the ground game with 79 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, and Riley has been effective with his legs, notching 161 yards and a team-leading four rushing touchdowns.

In PSAC rankings, Riley sits fourth in passing yards per game (222.8) and tied for fifth in touchdown passes (9). Griffen-Batchler remains among the league's elite receivers, while Brower's 56.8 yards per game rank 15th in the conference.

Defensively, Bloomsburg's linebacker trio of Izzy Dobbins (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), Garrett Garcia (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia), and Brady Thompson (Green Lane, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) continues to anchor the unit. Dobbins leads the team with 41 total tackles and 2.0 TFL for 8 yards. Garcia has 36 tackles, 3.0 TFL (16 yards), two sacks, and two pass breakups, while Thompson adds 38 tackles, 2.0 TFL (13 yards), and a sack. No. 12/13 Huskies Roll To 41-0 Homecoming Win Over Millersville
It was a happy Homecoming Saturday for the Bloomsburg University football team and the 5,237 fans in attendance under partly sunny skies at Redman Stadium as the 12th-ranked Huskies romped to a 41-0 victory over Millersville to move to 6-0 overall on the year and 5-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play.

The Huskies dominated the Marauders (0-6, 0-5) in every statistical category, finishing with a 446-175 edge in total yardage. Bloomsburg racked up 258 yards on the ground and 188 through the air, but the defense was again the star.

Bloomsburg scored its first shutout win since a 21-0 victory at Shippensburg on Oct. 25, 2008 by limiting Millersville to just nine first downs while forcing five turnovers – four interceptions and one fumble recovery.

QUICK RECAP – 2024 HUSKIES
The Huskies exceeded all expectations by the league's coaches and finished the 2024 season 6-5 and 4-3 in PSAC East action. After being picked to finish last in the East, the Huskies finished third in the conference. Bloomsburg opened the season with a dominant 35-7 win over Fairmont State at home before dropping a heartbreaker to Seton Hill, 15-14, on a last-second touchdown. The Huskies responded with a 32-27 comeback win over Edinboro and went on to defeat West Chester 23-21 at home to finish out the month of September. After three-straight losses to Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, and Lock Haven, Bloomsburg righted ship with a 20-10 win over Shippensburg University to end October. The Huskies went down to Shepherd and came home with a 27-21 double overtime win over the Rams before defeating Millersville 35-27 on Senior Day. The Huskies ended the year with a 27-7 loss to Slippery Rock on the road.

QUICK RECAP – 2024 WARRIORS
East Stroudsburg finished the 2024 season with a 10-2 overall record and a 6-1 mark in PSAC East play, earning an NCAA Division II playoff berth. The Warriors opened the season with wins over Edinboro (24-12), Pace (41-6), and Gannon (24-7) before dropping their only regular-season game to Kutztown (27-21). ESU rebounded with dominant victories over Millersville (57-17), Bloomsburg (31-0), and West Chester (45-31) before edging Lock Haven 38-35. The Warriors closed the regular season with wins over Shippensburg (45-0), Shepherd (28-7), and Clarion (22-19). East Stroudsburg's season ended with a narrow 30-27 loss to California (Pa.) in the opening round of the NCAA playoffs..

CONSISTENCY IS KEY
For the first time since his tenure began in 2019, head coach Frank Sheptock went into spring ball and then the regular season with the same coaching staff in 2025. Coach Sheptock added depth to the staff with several student and volunteer assistants, but his coordinators and main position group coaches remained the same. Tim Landis is back for year two as offensive coordinator and the quarterbacks coach. Chris Sprague continues to coach the offensive lines and tight ends. Zach Martin is back at the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach while Johnathan Pruden returns to coach the secondary. Greg Kahn is leading the defensive line once again and Tony Ianerio oversees the running backs and specialists. Josh Bernocco is in his second season as the special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach. Coach Sheptock added Chase Higgins, Peyton Persing, Loughlin Smith, and Nick Troutman as volunteer and student assistant coaches.

KEY LOSSES
The Huskies have several key positions to fill for the 2025 season. Bloomsburg will be without three key All-PSAC East athletes on defense with the departure of Ryan D'Ambra (Southampton, Pa./Archbishop Wood), Giovanni Cancro (Pequannock, N.J./Pequannock Township), and Charles Crews III (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area). The Huskies also lose two of their top receivers to graduation as Owen Anderson (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) and Matthew Bowes (Somerton, Pa./La Salle College HS) finished their careers in 2024.

RETURNING ALL-PSAC ATHLETES
Bloomsburg returns All-PSAC East wideout Jerry Griffen-Batchler (Norristown, Pa./Germantown Academy) (Norristown, Pa./Germantown Academy) for his senior season. Griffen-Batchler earned his first All-Conference honor as he was named a PSAC East First Team wide receiver. Griffen-Batchler put together a career year with 48 receptions for 854 yards. He averaged 4.36 catches per game and 17.79 yards per catch. Griffen-Batchler had eight receiving touchdowns and averaged 77.64 yards per game. He had four games with two touchdown catches and three games of 100+ receiving yards. Griffen-Batchler posted six catches for 209 yards and two touchdowns in the Huskies' 35-27 win over Millersville on six catches. His 209 receiving yards were the most by a Husky since 2003. 68 yards came on one touchdown catch for the junior. Griffen-Batchler also returned kickoffs and punts for the Huskies. He had 11 punt returns for 88 yards and had 324 kickoff return yards on the year. Griffen-Batchler had a conference-best 254 all-purpose yards in the Huskies' win over Millersville. For the year, Griffen-Batchler posted 1,259 all-purpose yards and averaged 114.45 yards per game. He finished second in the conference in receiving touchdowns and fifth in receiving yards and yards per game.

WELCOME TO BLOOM
Bloomsburg added 36 newcomers to the program on National Signing Day including six wide receivers/slots, seven cornerbacks/secondary, a defensive end, five defensive linemen, one kicker, seven linebackers, two quarterbacks, three running backs, and two tight ends.

LOCKER ROOM TALK
Head coach Frank Sheptock has found the secret to success in his locker room talks as Bloomsburg has found a way to score in bunches in the first and third quarters and keep their opponents off the board. The Huskies outscored opponents 48-45 in the first quarter and 82-39 in the third quarter during the 2024 season. The third quarter scoring has come extremely efficiently as the Huskies have averaged just 5:53 minutes of possession in the third.

In the season opener, Fairmont State out-scored Bloomsburg 7-6 in the first quarter, though the Huskies held an 8-3 advantage in the third and out-scored Fairmont State 15-10 in the second half. Three weeks ago against Edinboro, the Fighting Scots out-score Bloomsburg 8-7 in the first quarter, though the Huskies out-scored Edinboro 20-7 in the second half, including a big 13-7 lead in the third quarter.

OFFENSIVE NOTES
PROTECTING THE QB
The Huskies' offensive line continues to be one of the most reliable units in the PSAC, keeping quarterback KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) upright and in control of the offense. Through five games, Bloomsburg has allowed just eight sacks for 64 yards, ranking fifth in the PSAC in sacks allowed and among the conference's best in limiting pressure. The front five—anchored by Coach Sprague's veteran leadership—helped the Huskies open the season with a clean sheet against Fairmont State, allowing no sacks. Since then, the line has continued to provide Riley with time to find his receivers, including a 262-yard passing effort against Edinboro. The Huskies' consistency in pass protection has been one of the team's strongest assets heading into midseason play.

PLAYING A CLEAN GAME
Discipline remains a hallmark of the Huskies' identity in 2025. After leading the PSAC in fewest penalties a season ago, Bloomsburg has once again kept the flags to a minimum. Through five games, the Huskies have been penalized 24 times for 190 yards, averaging just 38.0 penalty yards per game—well below the conference average. That mark ranks second in the PSAC and among the top 10 nationally in NCAA Division II for fewest penalties and penalty yards per game. In comparison, opponents have committed 36 penalties for 310 yards, often extending Husky drives. Bloomsburg's ability to stay poised and avoid costly mistakes has been a key part of its balanced attack this fall.

ALL-PURPOSE JGB
Senior wideout Jerry Griffen-Batchler (Norristown, Pa./Germantown Academy) has continued to prove himself as one of the most dynamic playmakers in Division II. Griffen-Batchler leads the PSAC East and ranks second in the conference with 151.3 all-purpose yards per game, good for 15th nationally. Through four games played, he's totaled 329 receiving yards, 218 kickoff return yards, and 58 punt return yards. Averaging 19.4 yards per reception, Griffen-Batchler's combination of route-running and open-field explosiveness has made him a weekly challenge for opposing secondaries and special teams coordinators alike.

LOTS OF OPTIONS
Quarterback KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) has had plenty of options in the passing game this fall, with multiple receivers stepping up to complement Griffen-Batchler's consistency. Gabe Brower (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) has been a steady threat, posting 20 catches for 284 yards and three touchdowns, while Justin Wolfe (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) has matched him in receptions with 20 grabs for 173 yards and a score. Paul Wojciechowski (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) continues to develop as a dependable target with nine catches for 121 yards and one touchdown. Through five games, Riley has connected with 10 different receivers, spreading the field and forcing defenses to account for multiple weapons. The Huskies are averaging 222.8 passing yards per game—their best mark since 2019.

THE RILEY FILE
Dual-threat quarterback KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) has been the engine behind the Huskies' offense once again in 2025. The senior captain has thrown for 1,114 yards on 78-of-132 passing (59.1%) with nine touchdowns and a 141.9 passer rating, ranking fourth in the PSAC in passing yards per game (222.8) and tied for fifth in touchdown passes. Riley also ranks among the league's top rushing quarterbacks with 161 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. In his career, Riley now totals 5,437 passing yards and 40 touchdowns, moving into fifth all-time at Bloomsburg. His command of the offense and ability to extend plays continue to make him one of the PSAC's most difficult quarterbacks to defend.

MOVING FORWARD
The Huskies' rushing attack has shown steady improvement each week, with multiple backs contributing behind a cohesive offensive line. Declan Clancy (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) leads the ground game with 306 yards on 72 carries (4.3 avg.) and a touchdown, while Eli Zimmerman (Schnecksville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) has added 133 yards on 44 carries and three scores. Gabe Brower (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) has proven to be a versatile offensive weapon with 79 rushing yards and a touchdown on limited touches. Riley's mobility has also added a spark, as he's tallied 161 rushing yards and four touchdowns of his own. As a team, Bloomsburg has totaled 661 rushing yards on 184 carries, averaging 132.2 yards per game—keeping the offense balanced and unpredictable.

CAREER MILESTONES
Two of the Huskies' offensive leaders continue to climb the all-time ranks at Bloomsburg. Quarterback KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) surpassed 5,400 career passing yards this season and has moved into fifth place all-time in program history. With his 1,114 yards through five games, Riley is on pace to challenge the 6,000-yard mark before season's end. Wide receiver Jerry Griffen-Batchler (Norristown, Pa./Germantown Academy) has also reached historic territory—his 329 yards this fall bring his career total to 1,899 yards, placing him eighth all-time among Bloomsburg receivers. He needs just 53 yards to tie Tierell Johnson (1,952) for seventh and is on track to become only the seventh player in program history to eclipse 2,000 receiving yards.

DEFENSIVE NOTES — LBU
The Huskies' linebacker corps has continued Bloomsburg's proud "LBU" tradition, emerging as one of the most productive units in the PSAC. Garrett Garcia (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia), Izzy Dobbins (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), and Brady Thompson (Green Lane, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) have been the anchors of the defense, combining for 115 total tackles through five games. Dobbins leads the team with 41 tackles, while Thompson has 38 and Garcia adds 36, including 3.0 tackles for loss (16 yards) and two sacks. Nahzier Booker (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) has been a disruptive force off the edge with five TFL (23 yards), a sack, and a forced fumble. The linebackers' physical presence has fueled a defense that's totaled 22 tackles for loss and eight sacks on the year. With their blend of speed and experience, this group continues to set the tone for the Husky defense every Saturday.

SPECIAL TEAMS SPOTLIGHT
The Huskies' special teams have been a steady and often game-changing unit through the first half of the 2025 season. Senior Jerry Griffen-Batchler (Norristown, Pa./Germantown Academy) has continued to shine in the return game, ranking among the PSAC's top multi-phase performers. He has totaled 12 kickoff returns for 218 yards (18.2 avg.) and three punt returns for 58 yards (19.3 avg.), consistently setting up the offense with favorable field position.

Punter Danen Lorusso (Moorestown, N.J./Roman Catholic) has given Bloomsburg a reliable leg in the kicking game, averaging 38.6 yards per punt on 16 attempts, including five punts downed inside the 20-yard line and a long of 50 yards. His ability to pin opponents deep has helped the Huskies control field position in close contests.

Kicker Aaron Johnson (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) has been solid when called upon, connecting on 1-of-2 field goals with a long of 31 yards and converting 7-of-8 PATs. Kickoff duties have been split between Idriz Ahmetovic (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) and Riley, with Ahmetovic averaging 54.2 yards per kick and Riley 51.5, each recording a touchback.

Overall, Bloomsburg's special teams unit continues to rank among the most efficient in the PSAC, combining consistency in the kicking game with dynamic return production to complete a well-rounded team effort.
