No. 22 Men's Soccer Picks Up 2-0 Victory Over Goldey-Beacom

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The No. 22-ranked Bloomsburg men's soccer team controlled the tempo in a 2-0, non-conference victory over Goldey-Beacom at Steph Pettit Stadium on Monday night.

Bloomsburg moves to 8-2-6 on the year thanks to goals from Owen Hollobaugh (State College, Pa./State College) and Logan Savage (Bensalem, Pa./Archbishop Wood) while Goldey-Beacom falls to 2-11-3.

The two sides traded shots on goal in the opening minutes of the contest with Tye Maser (Farmingdale, N.J./Howell) notching the first shot on goal of the contest on a line-drive shot from well outside the box in the sixth minute.

Nine minutes later, Hollobaugh received a pass from Braden Alicea (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) before turning and firing a screamer of a shot into the top left corner to give Bloomsburg the early advantage. The Huskies continued to pressure the Lightning's defense forcing Jamel Yasin to make three more saves in the first half.

After Sean Blatz (Whispering Pines, N.C./Union Pines) turned aside an early chance from Goldey-Beacom, the maroon and gold went right back on the offensive. A shot from Sam Blumberger (Colchester, Conn./Bacon Academy) rang of the left post before finding its way onto the foot of Connor Fiadino (Burlington, N.J./Burlington Township) for the second chance shot that was saved by Yasin. The Huskies kept on the attack throughout the second frame, firing eight shots across the next 30 minutes of play.

With time winding down in the contest, Quaid Molino (Charleston, S.C./Wando (S.C.)) found the iron on a shot from inside the box. The shot gave Bloomsburg a boost as just over a minute left Fiadino found Savage, who extended the lead on a left-footed shot from that sailed into the top-right corner.

Blatz recorded three saves in the contest as the Huskies held the Lightning to just six shots in the game. Bloomsburg finished the night with 21 shots and nine shots on goal.

The Huskies return to action on Thursday, November 6 as they look to secure a spot in the PSAC Tournament in a 6 p.m. contest with Shepherd at Steph Pettit Stadium.
