SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Bloomsburg volleyball team was bested on the road in three sets in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup against Shepherd inside the Butcher Athletic Center on Friday night.

Marlee Johnson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) finished the contest with a team-high eight kills while
Katie Kuehl (Aston, Pa./Archmere Academy (Del.)) notched seven in the match.
Erin Clark (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert) posted a match-leading four service aces on the day while tallying ten assists.
Jessica Rimbo (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) led the team with 15 assists. Â Â

After Bloomsburg (8-17, 0-11 PSAC East) and Shepherd (18-7, 7-4) went point-for-point to start the match, the two sides quickly progressed into exchanging short, two-point runs. As the Rams reached double-digit points first with a 10-9 advantage, the lead had been traded seven times. After a service error leveled the score, Shepherd took the first multi-point lead of the set on a 5-1 run to make it 15-11. The Huskies quickly regained the lead on a 7-1 run that saw kills from
Sasha Moody (Abington, PA/Abington Senior),
Alynna Haggadone (Broomfield, Colo./Legacy) and Johnson. Â Shepherd slowly closed the gap on the maroon and gold before closing the set out 25-23 on a late 5-1 run.

The second set saw the two sides go back-and-forth yet again, this time opening the frame with three-point bursts. With a 7-6 advantage in favor of the home team, they surged ahead on a four-point run. Bloomsburg brought the set back within one point as Johnson notched a pair of kills in a 5-1 run to make it 12-11. The Rams extended their gap to 16-13 before 9-2 run gave Shepherd a 25-15 set win.

Bloomsburg scored the first point of the third set, but the home team quickly grabbed hold of the momentum to go up 4-1. The Huskies kept the Rams within reach for a little before SU went on a 5-1 run to go ahead 12-6. A kill from
Lydia Worthing (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood Antis) gave the visitors the serve back and allowed
Erin Clark (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert) to rattle off three straight service aces to bring Bloomsburg within two. Shepherd once ahead leaped back ahead with an 8-3 run to give itself a 20-13 lead. A late surge was not enough for the Huskies as they fell 25-19 in the final set.

The Huskies hop right back on the court for its final road contest of the year on Saturday, November 8 as they face off against Shippensburg at 2:30 p.m.
