KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior defender
Kody Besser (Lacey Township, N.J./Lacey Township) added another milestone to an already historic career on Thursday as he was named a Second-Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches. The national honor marks the third All-America recognition, second from the United Soccer Coaches, of his career and further solidifies the Lacey Township, N.J. native as one of the most decorated players in the history of Bloomsburg men's soccer.
Â
Besser continued to anchor one of the nation's premier defensive units throughout the 2025 campaign, guiding the Huskies to a top-10 national defensive ranking for the second consecutive year. Bloomsburg finished seventh in Division II with a 0.659 goals-against average, with Besser once again serving as the central figure in the backline's consistency.
Â
The All-America selection adds to a lengthy list of 2025 postseason accolades for the senior, including First-Team D2CCA All-Atlantic Region and First-Team All-PSAC East honors. He also earned his third career United Soccer Coaches All-Region award, continuing to extend his program record with seven total All-Region selections, the most by any player in Bloomsburg history.
Â
Besser's career achievements place him among the elite defenders ever to wear the maroon and gold. He is one of only three players in program history to earn All-PSAC recognition four times and one of just six Huskies to collect three First-Team All-PSAC honors. With Tuesday's announcement, he now becomes one of the few Bloomsburg defenders in the last three decades to earn multiple All-America distinctions.
Â
Returning from a late-season injury in 2024, Besser appeared in 17 matches with 13 starts during the 2025 season. A constant presence on both sides of the ball, he contributed an assist to bring his career totals to 13 goals and nine assists for 35 points.
Â
Across his four seasons, Besser helped guide Bloomsburg through the most successful era in program history. His impact was central to the Huskies' first-ever NCAA Tournament victory in 2023-where he delivered the game-winning goal-their first PSAC Championship, a program-record 15-win season, and the first NCAA Tournament home match in team history. He started 56 of 72 career matches for the Huskies shaping one of the PSAC's most respected and disciplined defensive identities.
