Lacrosse Falls to #9 East Stroudsburg on Wednesday

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -  The Bloomsburg women's lacrosse team fell to #9 East Stroudsburg, 15-4, in PSAC East action Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies dropped to 6-4 on the year and 2-3 in conference play while the Warriors improved to 6-3 and 3-1 the in PSAC East.
 
The Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter with the game's first three goals. Maya Fulmer (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) snapped the ESU run with her eighth goal of the season with 50 seconds to go in the period.

East Stroudsburg broke the game open with six-straight goals in the second quarter to give the Warriors a 9-1 lead. Marykate Sitko (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) cut into the lead with her team-leading 29th goal of the season with just 10 seconds left to send the Huskies into the break down just 9-2.
 
ESU used a 4-0 third quarter to take a 13-2 lead before adding two more goals in the beginning of the fourth to lead 15-2. The Huskies closed out the game with a goal from Abby Seifert (Laurel, N.Y./Mattituck) and Kayla Stressman (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) for the final score of 15-4 in favor of the Warriors.
 
Sitko had a goal and an assist for the Huskies while leading the team with five draw controls.
Defensively, Sohpie Mellman led the Huskies with three caused turnovers while picking up one ground ball. Lauren Foley (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finished the day with a team-best three ground balls, two caused turnovers and made nine saves in net.
 
The Warriors out-shot the Huskies 33-14 while winning the ground ball battle 20-10. The Warriors won 16 of the 23 draw controls as well.

The Huskies return to action next Wednesday when they host #14 Kutztown in a PSAC East contest at 2:00 p.m. at Steph Pettit Stadium.
