Men's Tennis Wins 5-2 in Regular Season Finale Over Chestnut Hill

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 5-2 win over non-conference opponent, Chestnut Hill, Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies head in to the PSAC Tournament with a 10-2 overall record while the Griffins dropped to 4-13 on the year.
 
Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin) and Vishesh Patel (Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India/Asia English School) opened doubles action with a 6-2 win at No. 1 while Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/) and Iu Casamitjana (Igualada, Spain/Escola Pia Igualada) clinched the match's first point with a 6-2 win at No. 2. Chestnut Hill avoided the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Huskies quickly secured four-straight single match victories to clinch the match while the Griffins picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles for their only two points.
 
Dementev won his second match of the day with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles before Jaime Soria (Pamplona, Spain/Liceo Monjardin) gave Bloomsburg a 3-0 lead with a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 5. Alejandro Higuera () won the match for the Huskies with a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 win at No. 4 singles.
 
Albert Martin (Barcelona/Instituto Menendez y Pelayo) won the fourth-straight match for the Huskies with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles to give the Huskies a 5-0 lead. The Griffins got on the board with a 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 win at No. 2 singles and finished the day with a 7-6, 1-6, 1-0 win at No. 6 singles.
 
Bloomsburg earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming PSAC Championship tournament and will face No. 3 Millersville in the semifinal match on May 3 at the Burt Reese Tennis Center in Bloomsburg. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m.
