No. 6 Field Hockey Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Shutout in 3-0 Win Against Pace

It is the first time in the past 25 years that the Huskies have started the season with four straight shutouts

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The No. 6-ranked Bloomsburg field hockey team posted its fourth-consecutive shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory over Pace on Wednesday afternoon.

Bloomsburg is off to a 4-0 start in the 2025 season, outscoring its opponents 15-0 through four games. It is the first time in the past 25 seasons that the Huskies have opened the season with four shutouts in a row.

Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) got the scoring started for the maroon and gold nine minutes into the game. The first chance for the junior came on a hard pass into the circle from Jessica Serafin (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) that deflected off the stick of Bush towards the goalie. Bush then collected the rebound before depositing it into the back of the net.

The Huskies got the first chance of the second period, as a shot from Jordan Bond (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) tested Pace's Morgan Strecker. The Setters then responded just one minute later as Kyleigh Kearney put a shot on net, but goalkeeper Maura Greek (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) stood tall and recorded the save.

Four minutes into the quarter, a bouncing shot from Sophie Lawler (Newport, Pa./Newport) found its way to Bush on the near post who then hammered home her second of the game. It is the third-straight two-goal game for the Boiling Springs-native.

Defensively, the Huskies faced an onslaught of shots from Pace in the second quarter. Greek turned away all three shots on goal from the Setters.

The Huskies were held off the board for the until the final minutes of the game when Raegan Iasiello (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) sent a pass across the front of the net where Lexy Freed (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) was able to easily put the ball in the back of a wide-open cage to make it 3-0.

Bloomsburg narrowly edged out the Setters in shots at 9-8. The maroon and gold recorded nine shots on goal and held Pace to just four.

The Huskies are back in action on Sunday, September 14 as they head on the road to take on Mercy at 2 p.m.
