Women's Soccer Rolls to Win Over Mansfield

A number of players saw their first extended action of the season and their careers in the 7-0 result.

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's soccer team came out of Wednesday evening with a stout 7-0 victory over Mansfield.

The Huskies (3-0) jumped out to a 4-0 advantage inside the first 20 minutes of the match. Alexa Arrigale (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) (two), Sydney Donovan (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink), and Beth Stephens (Lacey Township, Pa./Marine Academy of Technology) were the goal scorers. In the second half, Bloosmburg got production from its bench to finish the contest against the Mountaineers (0-3), getting Kennedie Huber (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood), Viktorya Luckenbach (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Pine Grove Area), and a second from Stephens.

Bloomsburg finished the game with a 37-1 advantage in shot attempts over Mansfield. The Huskies additionally had 11 corners to the Mountaineers' one.

How It Happened:
The game began with a clear intent for Bloomsburg: to remain aggressive throughout the full 90 minutes. That mentality was on display as the Huskies were attacking from the opening whistle. The first goal of the contest came inside the second minute with Laci Bell (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) feeding Alexa for her first of two finishes in the second half.

Nearing the 10-minute mark, Arrigale would double her nightly tally and bring her season total to three with support from the wings in Emma Wilkinson (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) and Anika Krasnai (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township). The Huskies continued with their attacking mindset, scoring from their second corner of the season, as Anna Dalesandro (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) whipped in a cross inside the back post to Donovan for a perfectly placed header into the top left corner to make the lead three. Stephens capped off the scoring in the first half with her first goal of the season. The junior got help from Donovan to make it a 4-0 lead entering halftime.

Relying heavily on its bench in the second half, Bloomsburg continued to create opportunities for goals. From a corner, a flurry of blocked shots rattled around the box before Caydence Feehan's (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) effort bounced to the feet of Huber. The winger remained composed and finished across the net for the first goal of the second half and the team's fifth overall.

Later on, a trio of freshmen linked for a great sequence of play. Marissa McGuire (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) toward the endline before playing a short pass to Haley Bull (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia). Bull took a shifty touch inside, laying off a pass to Luckenbach, unmarked at the back post, for the team's sixth. The seventh of the evening for Bloomsburg came from another corner swung in by Madelyn Blake (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia), as the Huskies swarmed to the ball for the final score of the contest.

Numbers of Note:
7 -
The feat of netting seven goals is no small matter, and the gap between now and the last occurrence is lofty. The history books turn to September 11, 2008, for the last time the Huskies earned such a result, a 7-0 win over Seton Hill.

31 - Bloomsburg was able to get a majority of its roster playing time in the midweek contest. All 31 of the team's active players were able to get minutes, with 12 players making their season debuts and nine collegiate debuts.

3-0 - The Huskies have had several tremendous squads in the program's history, but the start to the 2025 season is not a common one. The 3-0 start to the 2025 campaign is just the fifth such stretch to begin a season since 2000, with the last coming in 2022.

On the Horizon:
The Bloomsburg women's soccer team hits the road for its first PSAC contest of the season on Saturday, September 13, against Millersville at 4:00 p.m.
