No. 5 Field Hockey Blanks D'Youville, 3-0

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The No. 5 Bloomsburg field hockey team shut out D'Youville, 3-0, at Steph Pettit Stadium on Saturday morning.

Bloomsburg moved to 8-0 on the season with seven shutouts while holding D'Youville (0-6) without a shot. It is the third-straight game in which the Huskies' opponent has recorded zero shots.

The maroon and gold put the pressure on the Saints early and often in the first quarter recording four shots on goal. D'Youville goalkeeper Sarah Reifsynder stood tall in the cage, turning aside all four chances.

Alexandra Bliss (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) broke through for Bloomsburg four minutes into the second half as she drove into the shooting circle from the right side. After Reifsnyder challenged Bliss and sent eh ball airborne, the freshman midfielder batted the ball into the net out of mid-air.

The Huskies extended the lead later in the quarter as Kate Ferguson (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) collected the ball off a Saints' defensive save before turning a burying her fifth of the season.

Late in the second quarter, the Iasiello sisters connected for the Huskies third goal as Kendall Iasiello (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) found Raegan Iasiello (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) on a penalty corner to give the maroon and gold a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

D'Youville held Bloomsburg off the board for the entirety of the second half as Reifnsyder posted nine saves including seven in the fourth quarter.

The Huskies finished the game with 29 shots and 18 shots on goal.

Bloomsburg returns to Steph Pettit Stadium on Saturday, September 27 as they open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play in a 2 p.m. contest against Frostburg State.
