SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg men's basketball team was defeated by the Shippensburg Raiders.
The team struggled shooting from the field, making only 14 of their 52 shots (26.9%).Â
Kodi Johnson (Folcroft, Pa./Phelps School), from the bench, led the team in scoring and rebounds with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Courtney Davis II (Gainesville, Va./Patriot) led the starters with 10 points,
George Sabatini (Mountain Top, Pa./Holy Redeemer) had six and
Ries Naugle (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) rounded out the starters with five.
From the bench,
RJ Young (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) scored seven points,
Thaddeus Lee (Lancaster, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) had two and
Kaaba Murray (Harrisburg, Pa./Skyline Prep) finished with one.
First Half:
The Huskies struggled scoring in the first half as they were down 13-3 early. After a layup from Lee and Young, the score was 17-7 after the second media timeout. Shippensburg then put on the pressure by scoring five quick points. Davis, Naugle and Johnson put in the effort to shift the energy by the half would end 35-16 in the Raiders' favor.
Second Half:
Sabatini made his presence known early in the half by making two quick buckets. The Raiders brought their lead to 17, but the Huskies went on a 7-0 run to bring the lead down to 10. Davis and Young scored layups and Johnson nailed a three pointer. After the run, Shippensburg retaliated with seven quick points. Johnson, Naugle and Sabatini all had some scoring within the final minutes of regulation, but the Raiders sealed the game 62-45
