SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's basketball team conquered the Raiders 63-51.
The team shot well, making 17 out of 38 (44.7%) from the field. The Huskies also had three players reach double digits.
Kelly Leszcynski (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) led the team in points with 16.
Maddison Maynard (Lansford, Pa./Panther Valley) followed behind with 15 points on the night.
Leah Kale (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) played all 40 minutes of the game and finished with 11 points.
Lex Ferguson (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) shot 100% from the field and ended the night with seven points.
Alison Hatajik (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg) rounded out the starters with five points and led the team in rebounds with eight.
The Huskies only had two scorers off of the bench.
Ava Stevenson (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) earned six points while
Sophia Shults (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) added three.
First Half:
The Huskies dominated the paint in the quarter, making six of their seven buckets from the inside. Though, the Raiders did not quit, ending the quarter on a 6-0 run and tied the game 14-14.Â
The Huskies retaliated to Shippensburg's run by going on a 10-0 run to put the lead in double digits. Hatajik had a fast break layup, Kale nailed a three-pointer, Stevenson added two free throws and Shults drilled the second made three of the run. The Raiders came back with a three and free throws of their own, but Leszcynski made two shots from the charity stripe to end the half 28-21 in the Huskies' favor.
Second Half:
The Huskies and Raiders traded blows in this quarter. Bloomsburg brought the lead back up to double digits, but the Raiders would answer back with some free throws and a jumper of their own. Shippensburg, at the end of the quarter, brought the lead down to just three. After being fouled, Kale drained two free throws to end the quarter 43-38.
Bloomsburg shot 16 free throws this quarter and made all of them. The Huskies' efficiency from the free throw line proven too much for Shippensburg as the game was sealed in the Huskies' favor 53-51.

Bloomsburg will stay on the road as they will play at Lock Haven on Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m.
