KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat on the road to No. 4 Kutztown on Saturday.

The Huskies (9-5-1, 6-5-1 PSAC East) kept the Golden Bears (12-1-2, 9-1-1) off the scoreboard in the first half, but surrendered an early goal in the second half that proved to be the difference.
Izzy Hoffeditz (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) kept Bloomsburg in the match throughout the day, finishing with a career-high nine saves.

How It Happened:
The Huskies were stymied in the first half as they shelled up against a fervent Golden Bears attack. Bloomsburg went the first 45 minutes on Saturday without a recorded shot while Kutztown put up 11. Hoffeditz was called into action numerous times at the game's start, racking up six saves in the first half. While the Huskies had moments in their build-up play, none of it produced a glancing moment at goal after one half played.

It took a little over five minutes into the second half for the home side to break the deadlock, as an in-cutting player for Kutztown played the ball inside, with the Golden Bears getting a quality turn and finish into the top-right corner to go out in front.

The lead forced Bloomsburg to test its luck and seek out the equalizer while cautiously fending off a wiry counter-attack from the Golden Bears. The first shot of the afternoon for the Huskies came from a free kick, as
Daryn Savage (Bensalem, Pa./Archbishop Wood) pressed her luck with a ranged effort that ended up gliding over the top of the crossbar.

Coming off the bench,
Jordan Andrews (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) and
Katie Reynolds (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) combined for the remaining three shots of the match for the Huskies, as Bloomsburg had its best showing as a team in the final 20 minutes of the match. Despite the upped efforts from the Huskies, their hope of an equalizer fell short as the full-time whistle blew.

On the Horizon:
The Huskies are off for the upcoming round of midweek games before returning to Steph Pettit Stadium to take on Millersville at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, during Homecoming Weekend.
