BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg volleyball team earned a victory in straight sets on Saturday on the road against Lackawanna.

The Huskies (9-11) set the tone from the opening set and were able to keep the Falcons (0-14) off balance for much of the contest. Lackawanna made an effort in the third set to get back into the match, but their efforts were not enough to prevent a win for Bloomsburg.

Sasha Moody (Abington, PA/Abington Senior) was the standout on the day for the Huskies, finishing with a game-high 13 kills to pair with 10 kills for her second double-double of the season and fifth match in her last six with double-digit kills. Defensively,
Emily Gustie (Crofton, Md./Crofton) finished the match with 18 digs, averaging six per set in the victory.
Jessica Rimbo (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) matched a career-high with four service aces on Saturday.

How It Happened:
The Huskies began the day with a 5-1 stretch in the first set to establish an early cushion. Bloomsburg leveraged that four-point gap into a period that saw the team extend its lead to eight at 17-9. The Huskies ran into some trouble of their own making, hitting into three attack errors and surrendering two aces to see their advantage dwindle to two. Bloomsburg regained its composure behind a kill from Moody before an ace from
Sophie Wales (Port Matilda, Pa./State College), and two points, a block and a kill, by
Lydia Worthing (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood Antis) settled the Huskies back into a six-point lead. Moody and Worthing contributed down the stretch again, as Bloomsburg would claim the opening set after a service error from the Falcons.

The second set was more tightly contested through the early points, as Lackawanna kept in touch with the Huskies, trailing 11-12 nearing the midway point.
Lena Jones (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) provided the spark Bloomsburg needed with a pair of kills. The Huskies finished the set outpacing the Falcons, 13-5, utilizing four separate runs of three points or better. Jones, Moody, and
Clare McKenzie (Foothills County, Alberta/Holy Trinity Academy) stabilized the second set for Bloomsburg, as each recorded at least two kills to see the Huskies go up by two sets.

One set away from a win, Bloomsburg got off to a slow start in the third set, staring down an early six-point deficit. The course was corrected by a strong service run from Rimbo, recording two aces as the Lackawanna offense stalled with three attack errors for an 8-8 score. The Huskies were forced to continue their chase for the third set, as the Falcons held an advantage for much of the frame, last holding it up 19-18. With the victory in sight, Bloomsburg regained its focus and closed the set on a 7-1 run to wrap things up.
Alynna Haggadone (Broomfield, Colo./Legacy),
Katie Kuehl (Aston, Pa./Archmere Academy (Del.)), and McKenzie all had kills in the stretch that was capped with an ace by
Sara Kokolus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom Area).
