Men's Soccer Downed in Road Result at Shepherd

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Bloomsburg men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 result on the road against Shepherd on Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies (5-7-5, 1-5-3 PSAC East) managed to tie the match after the Rams (9-3-3, 4-3-2 PSAC East) scored the opener to make it 1-1 at halftime. Despite battling throughout the second half, Bloomsburg ultimately conceded a free kick on the edge of the 18-yard box that led to the host's game-winning effort.

How It Happened:
The game between the two teams was about as even as it could be, as both sides jostled for whatever came their way with high stakes in the match. Shepherd got the better of the run of play in the first 25 minutes of the match, as the shots outshot the Huskies, 5-2, with two corner kicks to none for Bloomsburg.

The mounting pressure from the Rams eventually led to the first goal of the day. Shepherd managed to draw a corner along the endline and set up for the routine. The Rams got a good ball aimed at a host of bodies at the near post to connect to skip over the top of the Huskies' defense to take an early lead.

Bloomsburg ramped up its attacking efforts in the minutes that followed, desperate to get an equalizer. The chance eventually came just past the half-hour mark. Initially playing down the wing, the Huskies played the ball back centrally, where Patrick Kudron (Flanders, N.J./Mendham) was fouled from behind. Around 20 yards from goal, Jake Pacacha (Shelton, Conn./St. Joseph) stepped over the ball and curved the ball around the wall and into the top left corner to tie the match.

The two teams continued to contend for another goal before the end of the half, as each team found pockets of space to take additional cracks at net. The attempts came up fruitless as the teams entered the halftime break knotted up.

Shepherd once again got off to a more settled start in the second half, getting off a pair of shots on target inside the first 15 minutes. The Huskies began to establish their presence in the half, rattling off a pair of their own attempts for goal that required a stop. Bloomsburg, however, made a similar error to the Rams, committing a foul just a few feet outside the box. With three players standing over the ball, the eventual decision proved to be the correct one, as Shepherd converted from the free kick with its own strike into the top left corner to go ahead.

The Huskies would come up empty in their pursuit of another equalizer. The team committed bodies forward in pursuit of the back of the net, but fell short at the final whistle.
