Women's Soccer Drops Regular-Season Finale at East Stroudsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's soccer team dropped its final game of the regular season in a 1-0 road defeat to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday.

The Huskies (9-7-1, 6-7-1 PSAC East) surrendered an early goal to the Warriors (7-7-3, 4-7-3 PSAC East) and could not overcome the deficit. Bloomsburg finished the match outshot 21-7 by East Stroudsburg, with the hosts holding a 9-3 edge in shots on target.

How It Happened:
The Huskies were backed against the wall early in the match, eventually leading to the match's lone goal. The Warriors got off four shots, all on target, inside the first nine minutes of the contest, with the fourth finding the back of the net. Izzy Hoffeditz (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) put together a valiant effort to calm her backline down through an early round of chaos, but an unmarked attacker down the wing put a well-placed ball at the front post to give the home side the advantage.

Bloomsburg managed to get a few shots off after the setback, but did not find an equalizing chance in the first 45 minutes. Anika Krasnai (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) had the best effort with a long-range shot from outside the box, but that effort toward the top half of the frame was caught with two hands. East Stroudsburg kept their foot down on the match with another eight shots to finish the half, forcing another three saves from Hoffeditz. The Warriors finished the half with a 12-3 edge in shots, including a 7-2 difference in on-target opportunities.

The Huskies' fortunes remained the same in the second half, as East Stroudsburg prevented Bloomsburg from getting established in the final third. Even during long spells of possession, the Huskies could not piece together the finishing touches for a goal. Kennedie Huber (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) and Viktorya Luckenbach (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Pine Grove Area) each found space behind the defense in the second half to fire off a shot. Katie Reynolds (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) had a good crack from over 20 yards out that twisted outside the right post. Hoffeditz finished the half with another two saves, marking eight on the night for the third-year goalkeeper, as Bloomsburg's efforts at a breakthrough came up short.

On the Horizon:
The Huskies are on the road for the first round of the PSAC Tournament to take on Millersville on Saturday, October 31, for a 2:00 p.m. start. A preview of the matchup will be available later in the week on bloomsburgathletics.com.
