BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – An all-around team performance lifted the Bloomsburg men's basketball team to an 80-70 victory over Kutztown in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest inside the Nelson Field House on Saturday afternoon.

Bloomsburg (7-17, 4-13 PSAC) recorded one of its best shooting performances of the season, going 30-for-59 (50.8 percent) from the floor. The second half saw the Huskies shoot an impressive 62.96 percent (17-for-27) with a trio of three pointers. The maroon and gold held Kutztown (6-16, 3-14) to just 20-for-59 (33.9 percent) shooting and 3-for-20 from beyond the arc.

Six Huskies finished in double digits, with
Gabe Springer (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wallenpaupack) leading the team with 14. Springer went 6-for-9 in the paint finished a rebound shy of the double-double.
Ries Naugle (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) and
George Sabatini (Mountain Top, Pa./Holy Redeemer) each posted 13 points with Naugle recording six assists.
Courtney Davis II (Gainesville, Va./Patriot) tallied 11 points while
Chase Smucker (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) and
Thaddeus Lee (Lancaster, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) each finished with 10.
Xion Nichols (Woodland, Ca./State College Area) finished the night with nine points.

After misses from either side to start the game, Sabatini opened the scoring by laying in a pass from Naugle. A quick steal from Springer led to a three-pointer from Smucker, giving Bloomsburg an early 5-0 lead and forcing the Golden Bears to call a timeout.

KU final managed to get on the board after the break, however an 11-6 run gave the home team a 16-8 lead. Kutztown managed to slowly chip away at the pulling within one with five minutes remaining in the half. Bloomsburg slowly pulled ahead late in the frame and a corner three at the buzzer from Smucker gave the Huskies a 34-25 lead at the half.

A 13-5 run from Bloomsburg gave the Huskies a 17-point advantage five minutes in. The run saw Sabatini record eight points in the paint. Kutztown managed to take hold of the momentum in the middle stage of the second half, using a 16-5 run to pull the game within two possessions.

Davis pulled the scoring back into the maroon and gold's favor on with a three pointer. Despite a few short runs from either side, the Huskies held on for the wire-to-wire victory over Kutztown.

Bloomsburg is back in action on Wednesday, February 18 as they head to Mansfield for a 7:30 p.m. contest. Â
